5 Things WWE fans deserve to see if/when Becky Lynch returns

There's plenty of stories left to tell if The Man decides to come back around

If you watched any WWE programming or went on Twitter, Instagram, or YouTube this week, then there's a really good chance you heard the news. Becky Lynch is pregnant.

The 4-time Women's Champion made the shocking announcement a week ago on RAW. She tearfully told the WWE Universe that she had to go away for a while and relinquished her RAW Women's Championship to her longtime rival and Ms. Money in the Bank Asuka.

Lynch left her coveted Championship in the hands of The Empress, telling her to be the warrior as The Man is off to become The Mom. Lynch is due in December, which would put her on track for a return sometime in the spring of 2021.

That's a very rough estimate, however. The truth is, we don't know when or even if The Man will come back to WWE. Neither does she. Lynch told People Magazine:

"I don't know what the next chapter is because I only know what it's like to think for myself when I'm by myself. So I don't know what it'll look like and how my priorities shift and what I'm going to want in the future. So, everything's open."

In that same interview, Lynch said she has accomplished everything she ever wanted to do in WWE. That doesn't mean there isn't anything for her should she decide to make an in-ring comeback. There are plenty of stories left to tell if The Man decides to come back around. Let's take a look at a few options.

#5 A proper feud with Bayley

A program between these two Horsewomen would be must-see
A program between these two Horsewomen would be must-see

When it comes to the battles featuring WWE's Four Horsewomen, there's one member that The Man is yet to have a proper one on one angle with - at least since their days in NXT.

Lynch, of course, has a storied rivalry with Charlotte Flair and she bested Sasha Banks in a classic Hell in a Cell match last October. When it comes to Bayley though, we have yet to see these two really square off. This despite numerous pleas for a fight from Lynch on social media.

It was roughly this time last year that Becky dropped the SmackDown Women's Championship to Charlotte, only to have Bayley cash in her Money in the Bank briefcase to win the title for herself. In the weeks that followed Lynch teased that she'd be coming after her blue belt, but we never saw that match up.

Lynch and Bayley did square off as part of the main event triple threat with Shayna Baszler at Survivor Series, but these two deserve their own major program. The fans deserve to see that happen as well.

#4 Closure with Nia Jax

I know Nia Jax can be a polarizing figure among WWE fans, but there is an organic story between her and Becky Lynch that never received a proper ending. All great stories deserve an ending, including this one.

This, of course, all started in November of 2018 when The Man led an invasion into Monday Night RAW as part of the build-up to Survivor Series. The melee that broke out in the ring saw Becky Lynch take a hard right from Jax that left her bloody and concussed. The rest is history.

The Man continued her assault despite later revealing that she was out on her feet. She would wail on Ronda Rousey with a steel chair before making her escape through the crowd. The night ended with one of the more iconic images in WWE history.

The punch, however, cost Lynch her match with Rousey at Survivor Series and arguably helped catapult her into the main event of WrestleMania.

Lynch would later get her revenge on Jax at TLC 2018 when she gave her a good right hand of her own backstage and then again when she eliminated Nia from the Royal Rumble a month later. I'm sure that is something that's been on the mind of Jax ever since.

Backstage reports at the time were that Jax was slated to be the first RAW opponent for Becky 2 Belts post-WrestleMania, but she unfortunately underwent double ACL surgery and missed an entire year of action. Now that Jax is back and better than ever, Becky Lynch is gone. At some point in the future, these two need to fight.

#3 A couples match against two Hall of Famers

Anyone who says they wouldn't want to see this match is lying
Anyone who says they wouldn't want to see this match is lying

I'm diving into the crazy world of social media for this storyline because sometimes there's just really good content online that could be gold in the ring. Especially when what was impossible at the time of the social media spat, is now miraculously possible.

Becky Lynch likes to use social media to create buzz, and she did just that when she got into a number of spats with WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix. The ultimate goal of The Man was to try and talk the Glamazon into getting back into the ring one more time. Sometimes, she would even drag Beth's husband into the fray. That, of course, being fellow WWE Hall of Famer Edge.

Watching Becky Lynch and Beth Phoenix battle it out would be a real treat. Those two squaring off is the definition of a dream match. You know what would make it better? Their significant others.

After making his remarkable comeback earlier this year, Edge now has the opportunity to do something that wasn't an option in the past. He can now wrestle in a match with his wife. Becky Lynch and Beth Phoenix have Twitter history. Becky Lynch and Edge have history of their own, and then there's the final piece of the puzzle - Seth Rollins.

Remember that time Rollins got John Cena to reinstate The Authority by threatening to cripple The Rated R Superstar? I'd say there's a fair amount of meat on that bone to get Rollins involved.

There's always the chance that Edge seeks his revenge against The Monday Night Messiah before Lynch returns, but we'll have to wait and see what he does once he's done with Randy Orton. First things first, those two have to have "the greatest wrestling match of all time" at Backlash.

#2 A one on one match with Ronda Rousey

It would be a shame if this match never happened
It would be a shame if this match never happened

This is a match up WWE fans thought they were going to get a number of times, but for one reason or another, plans changed. It started with the build-up to Survivor Series 2018. Just days before SmackDown Women's Champion Becky Lynch was set to square off against RAW Women's Champion Ronda Rousey, The Man led an invasion of SmackDown stars into RAW and things got chaotic.

Lynch would take a stiff right hand from Nia Jax in which she suffered a broken "face" and a concussion. She would not be cleared to compete in time for Survivor Series and instead chose Charlotte to fight in her place.

Fast forward to WrestleMania 35 and it was supposed to be Rousey defending the RAW Women's Championship against Lynch, who had won the Royal Rumble. Her battle with the bosses, however, forced Vince McMahon to replace Lynch with The Queen yet again. Lynch would earn her way back into the match and the rest is history.

Lynch would "pin" the previously undefeated Rousey to win both the RAW and SmackDown Women's Championships in the main event of WrestleMania. However, the ending of the match did see Rousey get her shoulder up during the three count.

It was clearly a mistake, and one the company has decided to largely ignore. However, if WWE decided to address it, it would be the perfect catalyst to reignite their feud. The Baddest Woman on the Planet can make the argument that she was never really beaten. Of course, Rousey would have to return to WWE first.

Rousey has not been seen on WWE programming since WrestleMania 35. It's currently not known when she'll return, and now that Lynch is gone as well it may be even longer before she comes back to the company. No matter how WWE decides to set it up, Lynch vs Rousey is a one on one match that should happen one day. It would truly be a shame if it never did.

#1 The Four Horsewomen vs. The Four Horsewomen

WWE will hopefully find a way to make this match happen one day
WWE will hopefully find a way to make this match happen one day

I wrote about this match late last year, putting it near the top of my 2020 wishlist. While some of the wishes on that list have already been granted, this one, in particular, is guaranteed not to be happening for a while following Becky Lynch's announcement.

As noted already, Becky Lynch will be out of action for at the very least a year and probably longer. Meanwhile, Shayna Baszler is the only member of the MMA Horsewomen currently on television. Ronda Rousey is on her aforementioned hiatus and it's been some time since we've seen either Jessamyn Duke or Marina Shafir on television. Duke recently revealed that she had surgery on both of her elbows earlier this year.

The odds of this match ever happening get smaller by the day, but every once in a while we get a little taste of what this rivalry could be on WWE programming.

After Becky Lynch defeated Shayna Baszler at WrestleMania 36, Lynch told ESPN that she's now 2-0 against the MMA Horsewomen with two left to go. That prompted this response from Jessamyn Duke.

Shayna Baszler meanwhile, recently took a shot at all four of WWE's Horsewomen in a Twitter exchange with Alexa Bliss. Shayna's tweet shows that the basic building block for this match will always be there.

Whether it's on television, social media or some other medium, the argument of "who are the real Horsewomen" will be around for years to come. So who knows? Maybe some time in the year 2021 Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey can make their returns and make this match a possibility.

The real question is, could the WWE Horsewoean co-exist long enough (in character) to come out on top? All I know is, it's a dream match that needs to come to fruition one day.
