John Cena’s charisma has rightfully placed him among the greatest of all time in WWE. The Cenation Leader has made a career out of destroying opponents, both on the mic and inside the ring. He has gone word for word against some of the biggest names in the business.

From dissing his opponents in rap battles, to firing up the crowd with passionate promos, Cena has proven time and again why he’s one of the very best on the mic. He’s also one of the few guys who not only held their own against The Rock, but pretty much owned him on the mic.

Speaking of The Rock, the Great One has had some iconic exchanges with John Cena on the mic. So without further ado, let’s begin our list of 5 WWE stars who were destroyed on the mic by Cena with the People’s Champion.

#5. The Rock and John Cena had a tense mic battle

The Rock cost John Cena his WWE Championship match against The Miz at WrestleMania 27. The pair agreed to settle their differences at WrestleMania 28. Cena took full advantage of Rocky’s part-time status, and accused him of being a corporate sell-out.

John Cena’s most brutal diss, perhaps, came on the February 27, 2012, episode of RAW, when he called out The Rock for writing promos on his wrist. The Great One was visibly perturbed with the unexpected shot, and almost came to blows with his WrestleMania opponent.

#4. Roman Reigns admitted to losing to Cena on the mic

Roman Reigns admitted John Cena owned him on the mic during his interview with Logan Paul last year. The Tribal Chief had a promo battle with The Cenation Leader in the lead-up to their match at WWE No Mercy 2017.

The infamous promo saw Cena completely pick apart Reigns on the mic. One could argue Reigns was still years away from finding his footing as the Head of the Table, but still, it’s hard to retaliate, let alone keep up with the Greatest of All Time on the mic.

#3. Austin Theory was told by his idol he wasn't ready

Austin Theory challenged John Cena to a match for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 39 during the face-off on the March 6, 2023, episode of WWE RAW. Cena responded with a brutal diss. He referenced WWE piping in fake crowd noises during Theory’s matches. He also told him he wasn’t ready.

The promo led to their match opener at WrestleMania 39. Cena lost the match after Theory cheated by hitting him with a low blow.

#2. Jimmy Uso and Cena met on SmackDown before Payback

John Cena once owned both Usos at the same time on the mic. The GOAT’s recent verbal onslaught against Jimmy Uso came on the September 1, 2023, episode of SmackDown. Cena was interrupted by Jimmy, and responded with an all-time classic insult.

The 16-time World Champion called out the former SmackDown tag team champion for betraying his brother at SummerSlam 2023. What’s more, he told Jimmy to his face that the “wrong Uso quit,” – referring to Jey Uso’s exit from SmackDown on August 11, 2023.

#1. Bron Breakker tried to upstage John Cena

Bro Breakker is the latest WWE star to get owned by Cena on the mic, but he definitely won’t be the last. The former NXT Champion confronted Cena on the October 10, 2023, episode of NXT – which went head-to-head with AEW Dynamite.

Cena and Breakker had a pretty-much one-sided verbal exchange. The segment turned ugly, after Breakker landed a cheap shot on Cena, who tried to hit an AA, only for the rumored next Paul Heyman guy to evade it by scampering out of ring.
