Every pro wrestler takes a unique path to WWE. They have to work hard, both in the ring and outside of it, to make it to the big leagues.

Wrestlers typically perform for little money on the independent scene. As a result, they often have to work another job to pay for their training and their daily expenses while they perform on the weekends.

Superstars are signed to WWE because of their passion and their dedication to their craft. But it can take years to get on WWE's radar, so wrestlers have to make ends meet while they chase their dreams.

Several Superstars have jobs before they were sign with WWE, but some of them don't look like the kind of people who would have ordinary occupations. The following list looks at 5 WWE Superstars who had jobs that you wouldn't associate them with.

Make sure to let us know your thoughts about these Superstars in the comments section below.

#5 WWE Superstar Sheamus: bodyguard and IT technician

Sheamus had quite a odd job before he signed with WWE. He found some work as a bodyguard for the widely famous rock band, U2. The band's lead singer, Bono often visited a bar in Dublin. Sheamus worked there as a bouncer, so he crossed paths with the celebrity a few times.

As a result, the future "Celtic Warrior" landed the role of the group's bodyguard anytime the band was in the area. The job required Sheamus to make sure no one started any trouble with Bono, his party and any other members of U2 who wanted to have some fun after a show.

The future world champion also worked as an IT technician. Sheamus doesn't exactly look like the kind of man who would fit in well with an office job. But one of his first paying jobs was as an IT technician at both Symantec and Hartford Life in the city of Dublin.

The Irish star made his debut in the WWE in 2009, and he has been a member of the company ever since. He is currently working on RAW, where he is involved in a storyline with Drew McIntyre.

#4 Former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan: cashier at McDonald's and KB Toys

WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan revealed in his autobiography that he worked various jobs while he was saving up for wrestling school. Bryan did not have a lot of money growing up, so he had to pay for his own wrestling training.

When he was younger, Bryan worked at places like McDonald's and KB Toys as a cashier. He worked both jobs so he could help his family make more money. Of course, his ultimate goal was to go to wrestling school so he could become a professional wrestler.

Considering Bryan is a vegan who opposes fast food and modern consumerism, he clearly would not enjoy a place like McDonald’s today. As a cashier, he also swept the floors and admittedly lived off a fast-food diet while he worked at McDonald's.

Thanks to his efforts as a cashier at McDonald’s and KB Toys, Bryan managed to fund his wrestling career. Without those jobs, he would have been unable to reach the wrestling heights he enjoys today.

#3 Former WWE Champion John Cena: limo driver and bodybuilder

John Cena is one of the greatest pro wrestlers who has ever competed in a WWE ring. But before he became a household name, Cena worked several jobs that the majority of the fans don't know about.

Every fan knows what John Cena has done inside the squared circle. But the WWE Universe might be surprised to know that Cena initially had a different profession. A long time before Cena tried his hand at pro wrestling, he was a bodybuilder. He actively participated in various bodybuilding competitions.

He competed at the 1999 NPC Ironman Magazine Naturally contest in Los Angeles. Cena showed a lot of promise as a young bodybuilder in his early 20s, and he even came in second place at this competition.

The future WWE Champion also made money by working as a full-time limo driver. But he later admitted that he had to quit that job because he wasn't very good at it.

Cena is currently focusing more on his Hollywood projects, and he has become a part-time WWE Superstar.

The current WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns had some surprising jobs before he became a WWE Superstar. Reigns put in a lot of hard work for many years before he joined WWE.

A failed NFL career forced Reigns to look elsewhere for employment. He found a job at his sister’s business as a furniture installer. Reigns, along with his cousins Jimmy and Jey Uso, worked together at this company.

Sooner rather than later, The Usos decided to pursue a career in pro wrestling with the help of their uncle, Umaga. Reigns eventually followed in their footsteps by chasing a career in the wrestling business.

Reigns signed a developmental deal with WWE and the rest is history. He was chosen by WWE to succeed John Cena as the face of the company. It took him several years to hit his stride, as many fans initially rejected him. But given the success of his current run as the Universal Champion, it looks like Reigns will successfully lead the company into the future.

#1 WWE icon The Undertaker: debt collector and bouncer

Mark Calaway, better known as The Undertaker, made his debut 30 years ago in the WWE, which was known as the WWF at the time. But before his first appearance at Survivor Series, he had a job that was quite fitting. Given his imposing stature, it's not surprising that he worked as a debt collector. In this occupation, he made sure that anyone who owed money paid it.

During The Jimmy Kimmel Show in 2003, The Undertaker was asked what jobs he had before he joined WWE. In the interview, "The Deadman" revealed that he used to collect debts.

“I did some things I’m not too proud of, but you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do,” he said at the time.

"The Phenom" had other jobs that matched his unique build. He also worked as a bouncer in various nightclubs and bars. One could say that Calaway always knew how to use his imposing look in his jobs. Fortunately for the fans, he went on to have a legendary career as The Undertaker.
