5 WWE Superstars that can benefit from Money in the Bank

Who will rise to the top of their division at WWE Money in the Bank?
Who will rise to the top of their division at WWE Money in the Bank?

With Hell in a Cell out of the way, WWE is gearing up for its first pay-per-view after the ThunderDome era, Money in the Bank. One of the most exciting stipulations that the company currently uses, the Money in the Bank briefcase is the perfect tool to give anyone on the roster a chance to elevate themselves.

Edge, Seth Rollins, Jon Moxley, Carmella, Daniel Bryan, and more have all managed to shoot to the top of the company thanks to the briefcase. At a point where the company's gotten a bit stale in their match-ups and presentations, this pay-per-view couldn't have come at a better time.

Without any further ado, let's look at five WWE Superstars that can benefit from Money in the Bank.

Our first entry may be a little controversial, but hear me out.

#5 Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre

Okay, so right off the bat this might sound a little strange. He's a former WWE Champion who just lost the chance to challenge for that title after losing at Hell in a Cell. However, that doesn't apply to the Universal Championship.

Drew McIntyre needs a changeup, he needs to move to a different roster, and after what we saw from him and Roman Reigns at Survivor Series last year, we can easily set up a rematch between the two with Money in the Bank.

There's not much else to see McIntyre do on RAW. We've already seen his feud with the top stars of the brand. Moving him to SmackDown would allow him to get involved with the likes of Reigns, Big E, Sami Zayn, Apollo Crews, and The Usos. Whether he succeeds at cash-in or not, it's enough to warrant giving him the case just to swap brands.

#4 Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn

At WWE Hell in a Cell, Sami Zayn won his first singles match of 2021. Zayn broke a long record, as he'd not won a singles bout by pinfall or submission since October 2020.

He knocked off his former best friend Kevin Owens with a Helluva Kick after going after his injured throat, which led to KO announcing he'd be going away for a while. With his adversary gone, it's time for Sami Zayn to take the step to the next level. WWE's Conspiracy Theorist has already had some entertaining runs as Intercontinental Champion, and while we could enjoy another run with the gold, why not push Sami a little higher up the ladder?

Specifically, why not have him climb that ladder of success at Money in the Bank in July and become Mr. MITB? Zayn's antics have been incredibly entertaining, as he's been trying to prove for nearly a year that the machine is against him. What better way to keep that story going than to have him hold the briefcase only to be prevented from cashing in at every turn thanks to The Usos?

It could lead to a well-deserved face turn should WWE want to go in that direction. Regardless, Sami Zayn holding the Money in the Bank briefcase seems like a great decision with a handful of different roads to take.

#3 Former WWE Tag Champion Nikki Cross

Nikki Cross has beaten two of WWE's top stars a few times over in recent weeks. Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley simply can't keep Cross down, and it's clear she's looking for gold. With WWE finally putting some stock into Cross, now is the perfect time to give her the briefcase.

This isn't the only time Cross has searched for singles gold on the main roster. While she's a two-time WWE Tag Team Champion, Cross has also faced Bayley for the SmackDown Women's Championship on a handful of occasions. Cross has always been a finger or two away from reaching the next peak, and the Money in the Bank briefcase might be what she's been needing to elevate herself.

#2 Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Big E

After WWE split Big E from the rest of the New Day in the 2020 Draft, the powerhouse of the group quickly found success in the singles division. After winning a feud against Sheamus, Big E captured the WWE Intercontinental Championship, tearing it away from Sami Zayn.

Since then, Big E's sat in that same area on the card and is still battling Apollo Crews for the gold. However, with Big E's solo run being such a success, and with the WWE Universe firmly behind him, maybe it's finally time to push him higher up the card.

Big E's proven that he can hang with the biggest and baddest of WWE and has been a vital component in some of the greatest stories in the company's recent history. With his competitive past with The Usos already in play, Big E would be a great threat for Roman Reigns, as Jimmy and Jey could hammer home just how much of a problem he's been for them.

Big E seems like the best option when it comes to building someone up in the men's division, especially with the Money in the Bank briefcase.

#1 Former WWE Tag Team Champion Shayna Baszler

The WWE's Queen of Spades is desperate for a fresh start right now. After two reigns as a tag champion with Nia Jax, the team has pretty much run its course. Nia seemingly paired off with Reginald, it's time for Shayna Baszler to rise to the top of the division.

Shayna Baszler's debut feud was against WWE RAW Women's Champion Becky Lynch in 2020, and it seemed that it was her destiny to tear the belt from The Man at WrestleMania 36. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way, and she's been floating around the mid-card ever since.

After being scared to death by a puppet a few weeks ago on RAW and losing to Alexa Bliss at WWE Hell in a Cell, Baszler needs to re-establish herself. She's a dominant force that has bested the likes of Asuka, Bianca Belair, Ember Moon, and more with ease. With a win at Money in the Bank, we could see her reignite her NXT feud with WWE RAW Women's Champion Rhea Ripley.

Should she win, it might be worth getting a feud out of Baszler and Charlotte Flair, too.
