One headbutt was all it took for El Grande Americano to qualify for this year’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, set to take place tomorrow night. Now that Chad Gable’s luchador alter ego has made it to the iconic match, the American Made spearhead will pretty much be on double duty, as he will take on AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo for the aforementioned title at WWE’s Worlds Collide on the same day.
Despite the time difference between the two PLEs, the toll on Gable’s body will be very much evident during the MITB ladder match, considering that he will be facing one of AAA’s best and a reigning champ at that.
In the event that Americano is deemed unable to compete at this year’s MITB, here are possible Superstars who might step up in his place.
#4. Karrion Kross
Karrion Kross made a tease suggesting that he would be part of this year’s Money in the Bank PLE. He was surprisingly left out to fans’ dismay.
If El Grande Americano bows out before the event, it would be a perfect opportunity for Kross to finally showcase his intensity again in a major WWE PLE. His ruthless in-ring style and imposing presence make him a suitable replacement for Chad Gable’s masked persona.
He is well acquainted with the chaos of being in multi-man matches, and it wouldn’t be a problem for him even if there are ladders involved. As a former NXT Champion, he brings credibility and ruthlessness, appealing to wrestling fans seeking a powerhouse.
#3. AJ Styles

AJ Styles was on the receiving end of El Grande Americano’s ironclad headbutt, costing him a spot at this year’s Money in the Bank. However, if Americano cannot compete at MITB, it would be fitting that he takes over that spot.
Styles is known for his unparalleled technical prowess and athleticism, which are best showcased in high-risk matches like the eponymous ladder match. His experience being a multi-time champion will certainly add more star power to the MITB lineup.
Further, The Phenomenal One’s ability to perform high-flying maneuvers and his adaptability to mayhem-induced matches make him ideal for MITB’s ladder match.
#2. Dominik Mysterio

Dominik Mysterio being added to the Money in the Bank Ladder Match to replace El Grande Americano would be another interesting choice.
The third-generation WWE Superstar is a resilient in-ring competitor, not to mention he has a knack for generating a ton of heat from fans as a heel. As a member of The Judgment Day, he showcased his ability to shine in a multi-competitor setting as the faction has encountered numerous wrestling stables who are itching to get their hands on them.
Dom Dom entering this year’s Money in the Bank ladder match wouldn't be new to him since he already competed in high-stakes matches like the Fatal Four-Way at WrestleMania, where he won the WWE Intercontinental Championship. He needs to be very wary, though, because his fellow competitors would certainly go after him.
#1. CM Punk could replace El Grande Americano at Money in the Bank
WWE fans would be hyped if El Grande Americano gets replaced by CM Punk at this year’s Money in the Bank.
Punk has a proven track record in ladder matches, which makes him a perfect fit. His technical skill, charisma, and ability to connect with the audience would certainly elevate any event that he is in. His familiarity with the match's stakes as a former MITB winner ensures a superb performance.
The Second City Saint’s inclusion would surely boost the event’s appeal, making him a top pick to step into the MITB spotlight again.
