Welcome to the last-minute rumors for WWE SummerSlam. The jam-packed show will emanate from Allegiant Stadium in the Las Vegas suburb of Paradise, Nevada, on August 21st, 2021.

SummerSlam will feature huge matches such as Roman Reigns vs. John Cena and Goldberg vs. Bobby Lashley. There are rumors that Becky Lynch will also be making an appearance after 15 months of absence. Speaking of absences, we will discuss why a former Royal Rumble winner is not working SummerSlam.

This article will also take a look at WWE's plan for Goldberg vs Bobby Lashley and what the future will hold for John Cena if he becomes the Universal Champion:

#5 Plans for Roman Reigns to feud with Brock Lesnar after SummerSlam

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has revealed that there is a chance that John Cena will become a 17-time World Champion this Saturday at SummerSlam. Even if Cena wins the title, his title run will not be long.

Roman Reigns will likely regain the Universal Championship as he will be focusing on future programs against The Rock and Brock Lesnar. Despite there being no plans for Brock Lesnar to show up at SummerSlam, Meltzer has said that WWE is protecting Reigns, for now, to have him feud with Brock Lesnar down the line.

''The company has kept Reigns clean with the idea of building up prospective epic matches with The Rock and Brock Lesnar. A quickie loss and win really won’t hurt either of those bouts, but Cena is pretty much done after this week except for the MSG show, and is leaving for Europe to do movie work.'' said Meltzer.

Roman Reigns vs. The Rock is heavily proposed as the main event of WrestleMania next year. A loss to John Cena could hurt his momentum, so it is unlikely that WWE will take that chance and have Cena win the Universal Championship.

Do you think Roman Reigns should remain the Universal Champion or should John Cena create history by becoming a 17-time World Champion?

#4 Merch sales at SummerSlam to decide Alexa Bliss' future

Andrew Zarian of Mat Men has reported that the future of Alexa Bliss' current gimmick depends on how much merchandise she sells at the SummerSlam weekend. Mainly talking about Alexa Bliss' creepy doll Lilly, Zarian said that whether the doll continues or not will depend on how much interest it generates as merchandise.

"The merch sales this weekend will be the story when it comes to Lilly the winking doll… Merch sales will determine a lot this week according to my source," wrote Andrew Zarian in his tweet.

Lilly has become an essential part of Alexa Bliss' persona on RAW as of late, and her current SummerSlam feud with Eva Marie has focused around Lilly. So it will be interesting to see if we will continue to see the winking doll after SummerSlam or not.

Bobby Lashley will defend his WWE Championship against Goldberg at SummerSlam. As per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, don't expect the match to be long.

Like most of Goldberg's matches, the plan is to keep the battle between the two heavyweights short. The only match that will likely be shorter than Goldberg vs. Lashley is Alexa Bliss vs. Eva Marie.

#2 Reason why Asuka is not part of SummerSlam

Former RAW Women's Champion Asuka will surprisingly not be a part of SummerSlam. Asuka carried RAW's women's division during the ThunderDome era but is left out of the summer's biggest party simply because WWE has no creative plans for her.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has stated that Asuka is fine and is absent because of no creative plans. She was present at RAW backstage but left as there were no plans to use her.

''For those asking about Asuka, she is fine. She’s just not being used for anything right now. She was at the Raw tapings early but left early since she wasn’t being used,'' said Meltzer.

#1 Sasha Banks pulled from SummerSlam

There was some worry over the SmackDown Women's Championship match at SummerSlam when both Belair and Banks were removed from WWE live events. The reason cited for their absence was ''unforeseen circumstances''.

PWInsider reported that both women were cleared to wrestle and will be part of SummerSlam. Dave Meltzer of The Observer corroborated those reports, saying whatever those circumstances seemed to have now been cleared as the two women are being listed as part of the SummerSlam event.

As per a new report by PWInsider, Sasha Banks is not backstage for SmackDown this week, and backstage word is that she has been pulled from SummerSlam as well.
