A wrestling legend has shared a potential reason as to why WWE released Rick Boogs.

Rick Boogs was an interesting character in the company and had a vibrant personality. He signed with the promotion in 2017 and arrived on the main roster in 2021. He played the electric guitar as Shinsuke Nakamura made his way to the ring, and the duo briefly became a tag team in 2022. Boogs' last match in the company took place at WWE SummerSlam. The 35-year-old was among the superstars involved in the Slim Jim Battle Royal won by LA Knight.

Speaking on his Keepin' It 100 show with Disco Inferno, WCW legend Konnan offered an interesting theory as to why Rick Boogs was let go by the company. Konnan suggested that Vince McMahon was Boogs' only ally in the booking committee and that he was released once the 78-year-old's power in the company dwindled. It was recently reported that Triple H will be making the majority of the creative decisions for the promotion moving forward.

"Every promotion…look at the booking committee on each show and who has power. Anybody that isn’t under protection, it’s free game how you’re booked and what they do with you," he said. [H/T: Wrestling Inc]

Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell comments on the relationship between Rick Boogs and Vince McMahon

Dutch Mantell recently reacted to Rick Boogs' claim that Vince McMahon losing power in the company killed his career.

Speaking on Story Time with Dutch Mantell, the legendary manager noted that Vince McMahon did like Rick Boogs but added that he thought the released superstar was being "a little bit dramatic."

"Vince liked him. Vince liked him because of the body and all that stuff. He blamed Vince going out of power as ruining his career. I think that was a little bit dramatic. I think he lost his job not because somebody didn't like him but because somebody didn't like what he added, which he didn't add that much," said Mantell. [From 44:51 to 45:21]
