5 storylines which can sprout from Royal Rumble 2014

The Royal Rumble

The Royal Rumble

The Royal Rumble is considered as the official start to Road to WrestleMania. And it’s no secret that the Royal Rumble will be the start of many intriguing storylines that will culminate at the granddaddy of them all.

The lack of interesting storylines has been haunting the promotion for some time now and there is a clear need to pull off more than the regular three main angles if they need to keep the buy rates up for WrestleMania.

Heads of the creative team will be steaming with ideas now but they need to put the best foot forward to wipe off every shame that they’ve attracted throughout last few months. There are going to be many talking points from the Rumble because of this, so let’s take a look at the top five storylines that the WWE could mould out at the Royal Rumble.

Batista, Title chase and Alberto Del Rio

The Momentum builder

If you thought that you’ve seen the end of Batista and Del Rio, well think again. the two are going to lock horns in Rumble again with Del Rio being eliminated by Batista as the most likely outcome.

Then the Animal can go all the way to win the Rumble and have a guaranteed title shot in his pocket for WrestleMania. This leaves the Animal free at Elimination Chamber. This is where Del Rio comes in handy as he would be a challenger for the Animal’s title shot at the Chamber.

However, Del Rio ain’t going to win the match on any grounds. He will only serve as a squash opponent for Batista who will gain great momentum by defeating the Mexican before his title clash at WrestleMania.

Demolition of Rhodes Brothers

Every Good thing must come to an end

Every Good thing must come to an end

Cody Rhodes and Goldust were the best things that happened to the tag team division last year. After their tag title win, the two went on to build a credible division which gave the main eventers a run for their money.

But it’s time for the duo to venture better things as the current angle has run its course. There have been teases of the brothers fighting eachother at various points and all that will break down at the Royal Rumble.

The kick off match against the New Age Outlaws will be the start of things as the Attitude Era degenerates are going to mess with the psychology of the tag team champions. Then the “every man for himself” rule at the Rumble will serve as the final nail in the coffin. Cody Rhodes eliminating Goldust or the other way around is bound to happen and these two might go on feuding with eachother in an emotional battle which would end up at WrestleMania.

Reigns breaking out

We are waiting

We are waiting

One of the most anticipated moments this year has to be the face turn of Roman Reigns. There wouldn’t be a better occasion or match to pull this off other than the Royal Rumble.

Though the Shield was projected as a unit for the past couple of weeks, the amount of cracks that was formed after the CM Punk feud is immense. The paper over the cracks is going to fly off cum Rumble. Reigns has already claimed that he wants to main event WrestleMania and though we won’t see that happening we will definetly see him make headline this Sunday.

Reigns might be eliminated by his team mates after becoming a dominating superstar in the Rumble. This swerve from his team mates will kick off his rise to the top and expect the big Samoan to live up to his word and main event WrestleMania soon because there will be no looking back once he finally turns babyface.

Bray Wyatt’s new victim

Running into the Creepy guys?

Running into the Creepy guys?

Hopefully, the match between Daniel Bryan and Bray Wyatt is going to be the end of this angle that has been utilized to the maximum.

Wyatt is one of the most brilliant characters that were produced by the creative last year and they cannot put him into any random feud after this so a big name is to be needed to carry the Wyatts further.

Rumor of the possible feud with John Cena is making the rounds on the internet and the likeliness of that happening will be set clear at Rumble as both superstars will be left with nothing much to chew on after their respective matches.

A feud with Cena will clearly propel the trio to more greatness and the never losing gimmick of John Cena will be finally put into question if this happens.

Punk screwed Punk

The Authority vs. The Rebel

The Authority vs. The Rebel

The PG Era’s Stone Cold Steve Austin, CM Punk will have the odds stacked against him on Sunday as he will be entering the 30 man battle royal from the number one spot.

Though the number one spot has produced so many winners, don’t expect history to be repeated this time since the Authority will be looking to do everything in their power to make sure that Punk doesn’t triumph.

A match between Punk and Triple H is imminent to happen at one stage and the Rumble screw will be the foundation for that big encounter. The most likely way that this can happen is the Authority having the New Age Outlaws, Shield or even Kane inside the Rumble to eliminate Punk.

Being screwed out of his chance to headline WrestleMania, Punk will be boiling to set the tables straight after the Rumble which is going to give us a big storyline.
