Crown Jewel is on the horizon and WWE is gearing up to deliver some huge matches at their fourth major pay-per-view event in Saudi Arabia.

WWE has always worked hard to bring celebrities and legends to perform in the Kingdom, and this event will be no different, as we will see a diverse set of competitors take to the ring in an attempt to entertain the audience.

WWE has already booked two blockbuster matches with Brock Lesnar defending his WWE Championship against Cain Velasquez and Braun Strowman taking on professional boxer Tyson Fury.

Apart from that, a huge 5-on-5 Tag Team Match between Team Hogan and Team Flair has also been announced. A nine team Tag Team Turmoil Match for the WWE World Cup will also be featured at the event.

One Superstar who still doesn’t have a Crown Jewel match is Roman Reigns. Reigns is one of WWE’s biggest draws, and has previously had a Universal Championship match against Brock Lesnar in Saudi Arabia.

Keeping that in mind, we look at four potential Crown Jewel matches for Roman Reigns.

#1 Luke Harper

Luke Harper had been away from television for a long time after Erick Rowan suffered an injury during their SmackDown Tag Team Championship reign last year.

While Rowan returned to partner up with Daniel Bryan, Harper remained far away from WWE for an even longer period. After Rowan broke away from Bryan and attacked Roman Reigns, we saw Harper return to help out his former tag team partner in putting 'The Big Dog' away at Clash of Champions.

The move allowed Rowan to score one of the biggest singles victories of his career. Rowan and Harper teamed up once again in a losing effort against Bryan and Reigns at Hell in a Cell.

While it seems like Reigns is done with Rowan, it’s possible that he still has a score to settle with Harper, as he was the primary reason why Reigns lost his Clash of Champions match.

Harper has now been drafted to SmackDown, while his partner Rowan has moved to RAW. This could provide WWE an opportunity to book a match between Reigns and Harper at Crown Jewel.

As Reigns simply needs an opponent for the big event, Harper could prove to be the ideal big man, as a loss would not hamper him in any way. Harper has already shown interest in leaving the company. In such a case, it seems fitting that WWE could use Harper to once again take the fall for one of wrestling's biggest stars.

#2 Sheamus

Sheamus has been out of competition for quite some time. His injury and ensuing absence led to his tag team with Cesaro breaking up. With The Bar no longer in existence, and with Cesaro assigned to the RAW brand, Sheamus will have to return as a SmackDown solo competitor.

Reports have suggested that Sheamus is all ready for his return and waiting for creative to give him a call. A Crown Jewel matchup against Roman Reigns could prove to be the perfect moment to bring Sheamus back into the fold.

WWE will be heading into a major PPV and would be looking for a big star to compete against Reigns to make the match even more notable. Sheamus has become a veteran of the game, and he must have a good following in the Kingdom too.

Keeping that in mind, WWE could return Sheamus on the upcoming episode of Friday Night SmackDown and have him make a grand statement by attacking Reigns.

The result might be a Crown Jewel match between the two massive Superstars. The feud could provide Reigns with a much needed assignment, as he hasn’t managed to find many top opponents on SmackDown. It will also help in marking a big return for Sheamus, who could be a threat to Brock Lesnar in the future too.

#3 AJ Styles

Although AJ Styles belongs to the RAW brand, it seems like WWE will continue to have cross-brand rivalries until Crown Jewel, at least. This will allow them to load Team Hogan and Team Flair up with Superstars from both brands, and also have the massive Tag Team Turmoil Match.

Keeping that in mind, another major Superstar who doesn’t have a match for the big event is AJ Styles. Even though The O.C. is scheduled to participate in the World Cup, we can safely assume that Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson can handle that for the faction, while freeing up their leader to compete in another match.

AJ Styles is the current United States Champion and could have a title or non-title match at the event. In either case, he could take on Roman Reigns in a huge match that will increase the fans’ interest in the pay-per-view.

It would make a lot of sense for WWE to simply book a match between the two men without any story, as they have done so many times in the past for international events. As star power increasingly matters when WWE stages events overseas, a match between Reigns and Styles would definitely increase ticket sales.

#4 Captain of Team Hogan

Hogan might have to look for a new team captain soon!

Seth Rollins was announced as the captain of Team Hogan a couple of weeks ago, while Ric Flair brought in his former Evolution teammate Randy Orton to lead his team. The stage has been set for a huge match between Team Hogan and Team Flair at Crown Jewel, and we can very well expect the match to headline the night.

Although Rollins has been confirmed as Team Hogan’s captain, rumors suggest that he might be pulled from the match. Rollins is scheduled to defend his Universal Championship that same night in a Falls Count Anywhere Match against The Fiend. The sheer brutality of such a bout makes it unlikely that Rollins will compete twice in one night.

This could result in Hulk Hogan having a change of heart and opting for Roman Reigns to lead his troops. Roman Reigns' addition to the match could really make things more exciting. With representatives from both RAW and SmackDown, the bout could open up future opportunities for Survivor Series.

Reigns is arguably one of the biggest stars on SmackDown and its a surprise that he hasn’t been able to get major matches during recent PPVs. Keeping that in mind, having him as the captain of Team Hogan could be the perfect way to allow him the opportunity to compete at the event. This would also give him major screen time, which would certainly please the Saudi Arabians in attendance.
