WWE Elimination Chamber 2014: Early match card predictions

WWE managed to get their buy rates up and running with an above average show at the Royal Rumble and they will now be faced with the challenge of keeping the momentum going with Elimination Chamber.

The last stop on the road to WrestleMania, Elimination chamber has high credibility even if it’s not among the top four pay-per-views. Though the bout in the steel structure will be the main attraction, the undercard matches also carries a lot of heat as they could be potential curtain raisers to the ones at WrestleMania.

And the best part of it all would be that Daniel Bryan fans won’t crucify the main event like Royal Rumble since the flying goat got his place in the Chamber. But the creative still would need to make things better as they are gearing for the biggest spectacle of the year.

So here is a look at how the Elimination Chamber match card would shape up.

Divas Championship: AJ Lee (c) vs. Naomi

New challenge

New challenge

Like all the other pay-per-views the only reason why this match takes place is to give AJ some PPV time because she clearly deserves it for standing out in a stale division.

On the way to become the longest reigning champion, AJ has defended the title to almost every name in the division and like all others Naomi is also not going to stand a chance. For starters, Naomi ain’t technically good like Natalya or AJ, so expect a short match that would protect her flaws.

AJ will retain the title no matter what, but the WWE should look beyond Elimination Chamber and provide her with some new competition.

Brock Lesnar segment

Needs to return

Needs to return

The chances of seeing Lesnar compete in a match are unlikely unless the WWE decides to give Big Show another chance. But the Beast is sure to make an impact at the pay-per-view by beating the hell out of someone weaker.

It wouldn’t end on a regular note however, as Undertaker could make his return to put an end to Lesnar causing chaos. This could set up the match between Lesnar and Taker at WrestleMania.

The return of Taker is imminent at the Elimination Chamber since a later introduction would give less time for the creative to build up a storyline.

Batista vs. Alberto Del Rio

Booking to hide the flaws

Booking to hide the flaws

There is no need for Batista to take part in the Elimination Chamber match as he already has a guaranteed title shot in his pocket. But the Animal clearly needs some momentum heading into the title match at WrestleMania and this match would serve the purpose.

The feud between Del Rio and Batista has been teased for so long now. Del Rio still has a score to settle as he was on the receiving side of a Batista Bomb on Raw. The Mexican was then eliminated by Batista at the Rumble which sets the stage for this match.

But from the looks of it there won’t be anything spectacular about this match as Alberto Del Rio is too good for an aging Batista. The Rumble winner wouldn’t be able to match up with the Mexican and the Creative should book the match to hide the flaws. A win for Batista is the guaranteed outcome which means more bad news for Del Rio.

The New Age Outlaws vs. The Usos vs. The Rhodes Brothers (Tag Team Titles)

Future champions

Future champions

The first title defense of the New Age Outlaws didn’t go as planned, The Rhodes Brothers deserve another shot at the title, The Usos are the hottest team in the division. All these things could culminate at the Chamber when the company puts the teams in a three way tag team match for the Tag titles.

The Usos and Rhodes brothers are bound to make the match exciting and hide the flaws of the outlaws. The fans wouldn’t mind seeing them spend less time also as the Usos are enough to keep the energy levels up.

A win for the Outlaws will make them credible champions and it could also fuel the friction between the Rhodes Brothers. The Usos could then go for a rematch at WrestleMania and win the titles making it a gain situation for everyone.

Kane vs. CM Punk

In or Out ?

In or Out ?

There is news out there about CM Punk quitting WWE, and the company has already stroked off his name from all events except the Elimination Chamber which means that we might actually see Punk wrestle in the Chamber.

There won’t be any doubts on who his opponent will be as Kane has made his intentions clear at the Royal Rumble.

A match between Punk and Kane is bound to happen if Punk is staying. It would serve as a curtain raiser for Punk’s showdown with Triple H also. The prospect of seeing Kane in action adds bit more flavor to the match along with the fact that the big red monster might change the rules according to his will.

The Wyatt Family vs. The Shield

If you thought the Elimination Chamber match was going to be the highlight of the pay-per-view, well think again. The six man tag team match will outclass the main event purely because of the momentum that these men carry.

It’s no secret that the WWE fans spend their well-earned money to see these guys along with CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. Packing the best stables in recent history into a match was the best decision that could’ve been made.

The fact that this match was teased for so long adds more heat to the confrontation. With such brilliant in ring performers in the squared circle, expect the energy to be high at all times. Also look out for the change of punches between Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt as it could be the first glimpse of a future WrestleMania main event.

Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan vs. John Cena vs. Sheamus vs. Antonio Cesaro vs. Christian (Elimination Chamber Match)

Can he hold onto the title ?

Can he hold onto the title ?

The inclusion of Christian directly into the match might have been a major surprise but he is sure to make the fans go wild with the star power he brings.

Daniel Bryan and Antonio Cesaro are two of the most decorated names currently and seeing them in one match itself is a big thing. Adding Sheamus, Cena and Orton into the match makes it a must watch one.

The match will give hair raising performances as Cena and Orton would need to rise to the occasion to match up to the energy that the other superstars brings in. seeing Daniel Bryan in the main event will also make it a success unlike the glitch that happened at Royal Rumble.

A potential match of the year contender, this one is going to be remembered for a long time for a lot of reasons and that’s the bottom line.
