Last week's edition of Monday Night RAW was surely one for the ages. Not only did we get to see a spectacular match between Buddy Murphy and Aleister Black, but the final segment featuring Lana and Bobby Lashley's 'wedding' was something of a spectacle in itself.
The whole wrestling world has been buzzing about the segment which was not only the highest rating segment on RAW but has also become one of the most-watched clips on YouTube, clearly indicating that the fans are loving the angle.
We are certainly looking forward to what will happen next in this storyline and have lined up interesting backstage rumors that you should know to better enjoy the story unfold on RAW. So let us take a look at the 5 big backstage rumours:
#5 Lana to return to in-ring action
While Lana has been an active presence on Monday Night RAW, it has been a long time since she has stepped inside the ring. While speaking to TV Insider, Lana stated that she will be making her in-ring return in 2020 and even hinted at wanting to become a Champion.
With Liv Morgan being inserted into the angle, maybe we will get to see a match between Lana and Morgan soon.
The crazy thing was returning to TV and Bobby, it was for the season premiere of Monday Night Raw. That was one of the things in my 10 goals is to be something on Raw or Smackdown and impacting people and giving people something to talk about. #4 Reason why Liv Morgan was added to the angle
It is no secret that Vince McMahon is absolutely in love with the Lana-Rusev-Lashley storyline and was reportedly very pleased with the wedding segment as well. WrestlingNews.co reported that McMahon was actually planning more such crazy segments for the time to come.
Vince has wanted to do more crazy stories like this but he has to balance things out to satisfy the people at USA [Network] and the sponsors. He got what he wanted this week and the overrun did nice numbers so Vince is in a good mood."
It was also reported that Liv Morgan's involvement in the segment was Paul Heyman's call as he wants to push the former Riott Squad member.
That site also says Liv Morgan was not originally supposed to be in the story, but was added because Paul Heyman wants to push her.
With an additional layer of Liv Morgan's affair with Lana being added to to the already ridiculous storyline, it will be interesting to see where things head-on RAW.
#3 Brock Lesnar's Royal Rumble opponent
Current WWE Champion Brock Lesnar will be in action on RAW after being absent from WWE for months. With Royal Rumble right around the corner, there has been a lot of speculation regarding who Lesnar will be facing at the show.
As per Cagesideseats, it has been stated that Lensar's opponent will be declared on RAW this week.
The word is we’ll likely know Brock Lesnar’s Royal Rumble opponent by the end of Raw tonight.
While there has been a lot of speculation that Cain Velasquez or Randy Orton may be in contention to become the next challenger for the WWE title, there is also a high chance that The Prizefighter Kevin Owens may become the man to face Brock Lesnar next.
It will be interesting to see who WWE finalise to face Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble before we begin the road to WrestleMania this year.
#2 Update on Kairi Sane's return
One half of the Women's Tag Team Champions Kairi Sane, has been out of action ever since her violent match at TLC, where she suffered a concussion. While her tag team partner Asuka has been involved in a feud with RAW Women's Champion Becky Lynch since TLC and is to face The Man at Royal Rumble, Kairi Sane may also make her return at the rumble.
Here is what SportsKeeda's Tom Colohue has stated:
The plan is still to give her (Kairi Sane) an assessment before the Royal Rumble, to check if Kairi Sane can be involved in that match. The opinion backstage is quite high. They find it very likely that she will appear at the Royal Rumble, probably get a nice pop. If she doesn’t, not the worst thing in the world, because Asuka is already in the match, so they don’t need the Tag Champions.
So it is clear that Kairi Sane will most likely not be in action on this week's RAW.
#5 Rusev's contract update
Rusev has been riding high on momentum lately. Reports are stating that Rusev's contract is due to be up soon and WWE desperately want the former US Champion to re-sign. SportsKeeda's Tom Colohue has reported that Rusev will likely stay with WWE. So his push can be expected to continue on RAW.
The company and the management are increasingly confident that Rusev will sign a new contract. It’s one of the reasons they are pushing so hard with the current storyline and once we know something, we will be able to report it. But it’s really up to Rusev at this point what he wants to do, obviously, the contract, to my knowledge, has not been signed, so it’s up to him.
We certainly hope that WWE continues to push Rusev even after he has signed the contract and he finally wins the World Championship on 'Rusev Day' this year.
