WWE Royal Rumble 2019: 5 Reasons Why Seth Rollins Will Win The Royal Rumble match

The Kingslayer wants his rematch for the Intercontinental Title right now!

Seth Rollins is now officially done and dusted with the Intercontinental Championship picture. He announced his entry into the Royal Rumble late in 2018 and he's the odds on favourite to win the whole thing.

It seems like the right call. If you really think about it, 2011-2017 had a whole list of unsatisfying Royal Rumble match winners. Only in 2018 did they rectify that, with Shinsuke Nakamura and Asuka being the respective Rumble winners.

With the era of part-timers slowly but surely coming to an end by this year or next, it seems like we are finally going to see the younger superstars get to shine with Royal Rumble wins, among other things.

Seth Rollins is the man and should be the man to win the Rumble match, now that he's done with the Dean Ambrose feud. He was protected throughout the feud, and we give you five reasons why Rollins should be the man heading to the main event of WrestleMania.

#5 A date with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 35

Whether he has the title or not, the Brock Lesnar match is one of the biggest special attractions in WrestleMania. However, it seems clear that he is, in fact, going to be heading to WrestleMania once more as Universal Champion.

WWE may have had something different planned for Rollins, but with a creative shake-up, it seems as though Rollins will be heading to WrestleMania to take on Brock Lesnar. This would, naturally, require him to win the Royal Rumble match, and it's a good enough reason.

Hopefully, Rollins doesn't suffer the same fate as Roman Reigns did at WrestleMania 34, where he got pinned clean despite everyone expecting him to win. It's honestly hard to tell anymore, but hopefully, Rollins will get the big one at the big stage.

#4. Roman Reigns' replacement

There's no doubt that Roman Reigns would still be Universal Champion had he not had leukaemia. Unfortunately, it returned and he was forced to vacate the Universal title. It's also very likely that he would have held and defended the title successfully at the grandest stage of them all as well.

WWE had invested a lot of time and money into making Reigns the top guy. It's unlikely that he'll return until 2020, and with Lesnar's schedule uncertain, they need a top babyface to replace Roman Reigns.

The powers that be probably felt that Rollins was the guy to take the role, and they're absolutely right about it. Seth Rollins is likely set to receive the biggest push of his career so far. He's won the WWE title and technically main evented WrestleMania, but that was as a cowardly heel.

Now, he's set to become the company's number one superstar.

#3. Long overdue for a Royal Rumble win

Seth Rollins hits the scene on New Year's Eve...

Seth Rollins has been in only a handful of Royal Rumble matches so far. He was in the match last year, but he was eliminated fairly early by Roman Reigns and had a tag team match later on, where he lost the tag titles to Cesaro & Sheamus.

When it's all said and done, Seth Rollins is going to go down as one of the greatest of this generation, if not of all time. He's bound to get multiple accolades, and given that he's been on the main roster for over 6 years and only missed around 8 months in total, he's long overdue for a Royal Rumble win.

It'll look great on his resume as well, and don't be surprised if Dean Ambrose wins it in a few years too. If you're going to be the top star of the company, you need a great push like this.

#2. He's been the hottest babyface since 2018

If you think about it, Seth Rollins' 2018 really began with that gauntlet match in February. It was a match between the eight Elimination Chamber contestants, and Rollins was out first, facing both John Cena and Roman Reigns.

He would end up eliminating both of them before finally getting eliminated by Elias. He had lasted over an hour, making history for the longest time spent in a single match in RAW history.

Everyone began to notice that Rollins had gotten more fired up and motivated than ever, and that was the point where he really began to find his stride as a babyface. Since then, you could argue that only Becky Lynch has been a hotter babyface. Either way, Rollins has sustained his popularity for over a year and it's clear that not only is he the guy that backstage officials want to see go to the top, but fans as well.

#1. To recover from the Dean Ambrose feud

That Dean Ambrose feud turned out to be quite a disappointment, didn't it? It was the originally planned feud for WrestleMania 34, but it had to be postponed due to Ambrose's extended injury.

Unfortunately, the heel turn, the storyline and they payoff match turned out to be largely underwhelming. Rollins was protected in every match but the one where he lost the title, but that match was so dull that even Vince McMahon was reportedly furious.

It's not that Rollins is less over now, but he definitely could have come out of the feud looking better. It's possible that WWE wants to give Rollins the big win to help him recover from that fiasco of a rivalry.

Ambrose's title reign itself lasted only for a few weeks before they decided to put the title on Bobby Lashley. Guess who the blame seems to be going to?
