SmackDown Results: Roman Reigns destroys top Champions; Challenger assaulted before Title Match

Roman Reigns kicked off WWE SmackDown with Paul Heyman and wasn't too happy that The Usos had decided to go ahead with the Tag Team Title match tonight. He and Heyman agreed that Jimmy and Jey better win tonight, or they would face Roman's wrath.

Reigns called The Usos out before they joined him in the ring and Jimmy said that he was 'calling his shots'. Roman said that he calls his own shots but he gets the job done, and so should they, before walking out of the ring.


Dominik & Rey Mysterio (c) vs. The Usos - SmackDown Tag Team Title match

Dominik and Jimmy were in the ring to kick off the match and Rey was tagged in early on for a double-team move on their opponent. Jey got the tag soon after and The Usos hit Rey with a double team of their own. Outside, Jey dropped Rey on the barricades before tagging Jimmy in the ring.

Rey sent Jimmy outside and went for a baseball slide but Jey caught him and hit a Samoan Drop on the SmackDown announce table. Rey sent both Usos into the turnbuckles before tagging in Dominik.

Dom hit a huge neck breaker before running into a kick. Jimmy took a hurricanrana from the top rope before reversing a 619 with a superkick. Jimmy hit a splash from the top but Dom got his knees up before rolling his opponent up for the win. However, replays showed that Jimmy got his shoulder up before the count of three.

Backstage on SmackDown, Roman was furious and asked to see his cousins. The Usos were furious and so was Roman. The Universal Champion told them to go make it right by talking to management. Reigns talked about their championship history and accidentally mixed up Jimmy and Jey before walking off.

Seth Rollins was on SmackDown and was being interviewed by Kayla Braxton when he said that he didn't owe anyone anything. Braxton asked what he would do once Cesaro returned and Rollins took off his mic and tossed it at her.


Chad Gable was backstage on SmackDown and told The Street Profits that they needed new management, namely, him. The Profits gave them a 'hard no' before walking off.


The Usos came into the office to see Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce, telling them to set up a title rematch with the Mysterios. Sonya assured them that they will take the circumstances in consideration and make the right call.


Carmella vs. Liv Morgan on SmackDown

Carmella slapped Morgan in the face as the match started and Liv managed to send the former Women's Champion into the barricades and then the apron. Back in the ring, Carmella hit a boot before hitting elbows in the corner.

Liv missed a dive before taking Carmella down with a backbreaker for a near fall. Mella locked in the Code of Silence shortly after and picked up the win.

Result: Carmella def. Liv Morgan

Grade: C

Backstage on Smackdown, Pearce & Deville told The Mysterios that they had to defend their title once more due to the referee's mistake.


Bianca Belair lays out a challenge to Bayley on SmackDown

Bianca Belair was out next on SmackDown and said that everyone was laughing at Bayley but the former women's champ was starting to get to her. She said that Bayley disrespected her and challenged The Role Model to a match.

Bayley showed up on the titantron and mocked Bianca some more before saying that she wasn't in the arena. She was sitting in her oasis, a room full of her own posters.

Soon every screen in the ThunderDome showed Bayley's face as she laughed maniacally.


Otis was backstage and wanted The Street Profits to apologize to Chad. They told him instead that Gable was holding him back before Otis got very angry and attacked them.


King Corbin vs. Shinsuke Nakamura on SmackDown

Rick Boogs was back and introduced Nakamura before the match with Corbin. Corbin unloaded on Nakamura as the match began and Nakamura hit a big knee in the corner before taking a near fall.

Nakamura and Corbin traded some big moves on SmackDown before The Lone Wolf was able to catch Nakamura with a sudden pinfall for a shocking win.

Result: King Corbin def. Shinsuke Nakamura

Boogs and Nakamura attacked Corbin after the match and Shinsuke took the crown back before retreating backstage.

Grade: C


Kevin Owens was attacked by General Azeez, who wiped him out backstage before tonight's title match on SmackDown.


Apollo Crews (c) vs. Kevin Owens - Intercontinental Championship Match on SmackDown

Owens decided to go for the match regardless of his condition and Apollo knocked him down right off the bell. Crews unloaded on Owens as the match went on and bounced him off the turnbuckles before KO came back with a senton.

Back after a break on SmackDown, Owens hit a German Suplex before going for a Swanton Bomb from the top rope but Apollo got his knees up. The IC Champ got a standing Moonsault and a suplex but KO kicked out twice. Owens got some superkicks and a pop-up powerbomb for a near fall of his own.

Owens was on the top rope and took a Death Valley driver on the apron before Apollo finally pinned him and picked up the win on SmackDown.

Result: Apollo Crews def. Kevin Owens to retain the Intercontinental Championship

Sami Zayn ran into the ring bafter the match and hit a Helluva Kick on Owens before claiming it was karma.

Grade: A


The Street Profits challenged the Alpha Academy to a match on SmackDown next week.


Dominik & Rey Mysterio vs. The Usos - SmackDown Tag Team Title match

Jimmy and Dominik kicked off the match and the former went for quick pins before isolating Dom in their corner. The Usos traded hot tags and worked on the younger Mysterio and hit a dive on him before we headed for a break.

Back on SmackDown, Jey was in the ring with Dom and sent Uso into the corner before tagging in Rey. Jimmy tagged in as well and the Mysterios got back in control with some big moves.

Rey set up for the 619 on Jimmy before telling Dominik to finish it with the splash on SmackDown. Roman Reigns showed up out of nowhere and took out Dom from the top rope with a Superman Punch and then Rey with a spear.

Result: DNF

Reigns went after the tag team champs outside and knocked them into the barricades and steel steps. He picked up the steps and knocked Dominik down with it. He did the same to Rey and bragged about his family's legacy while still beating them up.

Dominik was taking a beating and was locked in the Guillotine before Jimmy told Reigns to cut it out.

Jimmy said 'not like this bro' and walked off but Roman held Jey back in the ring. Roman was still mad and beat Dom some more as SmackDown ended.

We got an exciting episode of SmackDown tonight with three title matches and a lot of backstage drama between Reigns and the Usos. Carmella picked up a win over Liv Morgan and Nakamura was defeated by Corbin. KO failed to get a title win while the Mysterios put their belts on the line twice in one night.
