Top 5 replacements CSK can get for Dwayne Bravo in IPL 7

Dwayne Bravo has ruled out of the rest of the IPL 2014, and Chennai have been allowed by the IPL's technical committee to seek replacements for their all-rounder who has done so well for them in the past 3 seasons of IPL Cricket. With CSK's batting so strong, with Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum going so well, maybe they will look at specialist bowlers to replace Bravo. Here's a look at 5 picks that would strengthen CSK and make them an even stronger team.

#1 Subramaniam Badrinath

Mr. Reliable for CSK in the first six editions of the IPL. Badrinath was the man who was sent out to bat in times of crisis. And he did an admirable job. Badrinath's IPL career has gone much the way of his international career, with his services deemed as not needed by any of the franchises, despite him doing a sterling job for Chennai.

CSK's top order has flourished, but there will be a game when there are some hiccups and Badrinath is just the right person for the fire-fighting role in the side.

#2 Mitchell McClenaghan

McClenaghan has been New Zealand's go-to man over the recent past in Limited Overs Cricket. It is his ability to take wickets on a regular basis, that makes him a threat.

McClenaghan has an economy rate of 8.41 in T20Is, but it his knack of picking up crucial wickets that make him a threat. McClenaghan is useful both with the new ball and at the death, and mostly bowls only in those phases of the innings, contributing to his high economy rate.

#3 Doug Bollinger

Bollinger has had a career revival of sorts, which was complete with his inclusion in the Autralian siide in their disastrous World T20 campaign. Bollinger is back to doing what he does best, hitting the deck hard, and hounding the batsman with his reasonable pace.

One huge advantage CSK will have if they choose Bollinger is that he is someone who knows the dynamics of the franchise, having spent 3 seasons with Chennai, and MS Dhoni would also know his strengths and weaknesses, leading to knowing where and when he should be bowling.

#4 Clint McKay

McKay has been Australia's most reliable Limited Overs bowler in recent history. McKay has so many variations that it is very hard to pick which one he bowls.

McKay has a miserly economy rate of 4.52 in List A cricket, and although that goes up to 8.24 in T20s, he is still an asset to have, especially because, like McClenaghan, he also has the knack of picking up crucial wickets.

#5 Hamish Bennett

The Wildcard pick out of the five that I have suggested. Bennett hustled and harried India with his pace and his ability to hit the deck hard during India's recent tour there, and with Stephen Fleming at the helm of affairs at CSK, they might well be having a close look at Bennett.

The only negative aspect with Bennett is that he is highly prone to injuries, and that may well be motivating factor for CSK to not pick him. When he stays fit however, he could be the enforcer that CSK needs with the ball.
