#6 AJ Styles suffers an injury, Edge goes off script

Edge's return to the ring at the Royal Rumble will be remembered for years to come and the Rated-R Superstar proved to the fans that he indeed still had it!

However, there was a disconcerting moment in the match that involved himself and AJ Styles.

PWinsider reports that Styles suffered a legitimate arm injury due to a bump he took from Edge's spear. Styles' left arm was apparently left dangling after the spot and an audible was reportedly called to eliminate him early from the match.

A referee got up to the apron and relayed the information to Edge, who went on to throw Styles out of the match.

Styles was examined backstage by the medical team after the match and his arm was wrapped up and iced. There is still no update regarding the seriousness of his injury and how much in-ring time he would have to miss.

#5 Brock Lesnar's backstage altercation with Matt Riddle

Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet put out a report in which details of a real verbal fight between Brock Lesnar and Matt Riddle were revealed.

The situation between Lesnar and Riddle was termed to be tense and a source claimed that it was real and not done for the show.

Brock reportedly wanted Riddle to understand 'the reality of the situation' between them.

Fightful Select released an update on the altercation between the two Superstars. A source backstage noted that Lesnar was the wrong man to mess with and that The Beast did nothing but communicate his issues to Riddle. The NXT Superstar was 'spoken to by Brock and he understood', the report added.

Matt Riddle entered the Royal Rumble match long after Lesnar was eliminated and we sadly didn't get to see an on-screen showdown between the Superstars

The King of Bros previously had a long-running feud with Brock Lesnar's storied rival Goldberg and he has now crossed paths with The Beast.

Riddle has always claimed that he wants to retire Lesnar at WrestleMania and we're sure the WWE Champion may not have taken kindly to the comments.

While the information about the verbal exchange is still scarce, we should hopefully know more on the same in the coming few days.

#4 Backstage details on Edge's return

The Rated-R Superstar is back in the ring after a nine-year absence but there are more questions than answers in the aftermath of the return.

How often will we see the 11-time WWE Champion on TV?

PWinsider released a lot of details about Edge's return after Royal Rumble.

Edge signed a new deal with the company months ago when he was cleared to wrestle again, which was also when he had talks with All Elite Wrestling. WrestleVotes stated that the WWE Hall of Famer has signed a 3-year contract worth a lot of money.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider added that Edge denied being cleared to keep his Royal Rumble return a secret. The WWE Legend was flown to Houston in a private jet on the morning of the show and was kept away from everyone for obvious reasons.

Going forward, Edge will be used as a special attraction and he will not be wrestling every week. He is expected to be used like Brock Lesnar, who works limited dates against selected opponents.

The 46-year-old's return to the ring was welcomed with a massive pop and he did admirably well during his time in the match. He may not have won the match but he gave us all a good account of what he's capable of at this stage in his career.

#3 The reason why Drew McIntyre was chosen to win the Royal Rumble

Ad

Drew McIntyre closed out Royal Rumble with the biggest win of his career as he eliminated Roman Reigns to punch his ticket to the WrestleMania main event.

The Scottish Psychopath was not the original choice, however, as he was a late pick to win the match, which was driven by the reactions of the fans.

Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue reported the following after the Royal Rumble main event:

McIntyre was the one who eliminated Brock Lesnar and he should take on The Beast in the main event of WrestleMania 36 in a highly-anticipated WWE Championship match.

#2 The reason why Sasha Banks was not at Royal Rumble

Just when the fans thought Sasha Banks would enter the Royal Rumble at #29, out came Santina Marella to an underwhelming reaction. The decision to get Santina back was rightfully criticized by Sportskeeda's Riju Dasgupta in his Best and Worst for the Royal Rumble.

The burning question right now, however, is about the absence of Sasha Banks.

Fightful Select reports that The Boss was not cleared to wrestle as she is out with an injury. The report didn't reveal the severity of her injury or her expected in-ring return date, Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue stated that Banks could be out with an ankle injury, which has kept her out of action since the January 3rd episode of SmackDown.

PWinsider also reported that Kelly Kelly was Sasha Banks' replacement in the match.

#1 AJ Style moving to SmackDown, reason why he isn't being pushed on RAW

In his recent YouTube video, Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue opened up about the possible plans for the reported Superstar Shakeup that is scheduled to take place after WrestleMania 36.

AJ Styles is one of the Superstars who is rumored to return to SmackDown. Tom explained that Paul Heyman currently has nothing planned for the former WWE Champion, which explains why he has been kept away from the major storylines on RAW.

It is believed that Styles would be more comfortable on SmackDown, the brand in which he rose to prominence.

Tom had the following to say:

There has been a lot of speculation recently as to who is on a shortlist of Superstars who Paul Heyman wants to push. Drew McIntyre recently confirmed a report I made on Sportskeeda saying that they have a lot more freedom and Drew McIntyre himself is one of the people getting a push as a result of that.
Not on that list and conspicuous by their absence is AJ Styles, someone who came on the back of a large WWE Championship run, that was ended in the November before the trade. And even though now they have been paired with The OC, AJ Styles has not been so heavily involved in some of the top storylines. He is a name that is now being suggested that could move back to SmackDown, where it is believed he is more comfortable, and it's believed that Paul Heyman doesn't have anything planned for him at the moment.
