The latest chapter 205 of the Chainsaw Man manga, titled Who?, released on Tuesday, June 10, and revealed one of the biggest mysteries of the series, which fans had long been speculating about. Fans were finally introduced to the Fakesaw Man's identity, who had been known only as a doppleganger of Denji up until now in the series.

As the identity of the Fakesaw Man was revealed, the series also established its connection with the Fire Devil, but it was not fully explained by the end of the latest chapter. While a more elaborate explanation will certainly come soon, this article explores what exactly that connection may be.

Fakesaw Man's identity reveal might open more about Denji's past in the Chainsaw Man series

As mentioned earlier, the Chainsaw Man manga's recent chapter 205 answered one of the long-awaited mysteries of the series: the identity of the Fakesaw Man. Meanwhile, as per the previous chapter, the series introduced the Fire Devil as Denji defeated the Fakesaw Man and released all the people inside of it.

As the Fakesaw Man was defeated, the Fire Devil appeared, who claimed to be trapped inside the body of a severed head. While it was clear that the severed head belonged to Fakesaw Man, the Fire Devil made indications towards Denji supposedly knowing Fakesaw Man's true identity beforehand.

Upon Denji's inquiry, the Fire Devil explained that there were once a pair of kind twin brothers who took in the Fire Devil after they found him injured and saved him. While the twins were treating the Fire Devil, they mentioned Chainsaw Man and how they admired him as a symbol of hope. The brothers also asked the Fire Devil to follow a similar path as Chainsaw Man, to which he agreed.

Following this, the Fire Devil made contracts with those who had justice in their hearts and granted them the power to transform into their forms of justice. This entire narration by the Fire Devil implied that one of the brothers was the Fakesaw Man. But what was their connection to Denji?

As the Fire Devil further explained, it had to do with a previous occurrence that took place in chapter 102 of the Chainsaw Man manga. In this chapter, while Denji was fighting with the Cockroach Devil, the twin brothers were also present there. As Denji defeated the Cockroach Devil, it picked up one of the brothers and dropped him, but Denji chose to save a cat over the brother, who died from the fall.

Furthermore, as the Fire Devil claimed that he was inside one of the brothers and was released after Fakesaw Man was defeated, the series created a sense of confusion about which brother had which Devil. However, if all facts are gathered and pondered upon properly, the Fire Devil was likely within the body of the younger twin who died earlier, while the older brother was Fakesaw Man.

If one thoroughly goes through all the chain of events from the Chainsaw Man chapter 205 panels, Denji kills Fakesaw Man, and the Fire Devil comes out from a body that was trapped among the several people inside Fakesaw Man. Since the Fakesaw Man needed a living body to be active, it was likely the older twin brother, who absorbed the younger brother's body with the Fire Devil inside it.

Final thoughts

Chapter 205 of the Chainsaw Man series was yet another prime example of Denji's mistakes, or rather, particular choices coming back to bite him. Essentially, the Fire Devil was to the brother what Pochita was to Denji in the beginning of the series. Furthermore, the Fire Devil's sense of revenge is actually towards the Chainsaw Man and not Denji, which is also a common misconception among fans.
