Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 257 has been nothing short of scintillating. Following the release of the previous chapter, the manga went on a short break. But the wait was worth it as creator Gege Akutami smashed it out of the park once again with this one.

The latest addition, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 257, brought back a familiar name (Jin Itadori) in the most unexpected of ways. Moreover, this person's link to Sukuna and then Kenjaku was even more alarming.

On top of that, Yuji Itadori looks to be completely locked in now, going forth to shatter the previously established consecutive Black Flash record.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 257 begins with Uraume asking Sukuna about Yuji. They are curious as to who or what the teenager actually is. They say that they felt something "reminiscent" of the Demon King, rather an "empty husk actively retaining elements of Sukuna". While casually revealing the information, The King of Curses (Sukuna) debunks numerous theories and clears up matters.

For the uninitiated, Jin Itadori, Yuji Itadori's father, was Sukuna's twin. In this chapter, Sukuna discloses that he was meant to be born with a twin. However, given how twins are bad omens in Jujutsu Kaisen, he changed his fate by consuming his twin brother to avoid starvation. That led to the twin's soul "bouncing around aimlessly" till it finally fell into Kenjaku's clutches.

Sukuna further elaborates that Yuji was bred for two major purposes - to be a player in the Culling Games and more importantly, to seal away Sukuna's fingers. So, in essence, along with containing a part of Sukuna's soul, Yuji also possessed latent potential on par with the Demon King's.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 257: Two Cursed Techniques

Moving back to the present, Yuji and Sukuna are face to face following a massive Black Flash by the former. The two engage each other and Yuji pivots, charging up and landing two Black Flashes square on Sukuna. Visibly shaken, the Demon King blows Yuji back, forcing the boy to land on a nearby pillar.

As he places his hand on the pillar, it cuts cleanly into a large slab. Yuji has seemingly used Dismantle as he slams the pillar against Sukuna and lands yet another Black Flash on him. Amidst all this, the narrator then reveals some intriguing information.

There seem to be two Cursed Techniques residing within Yuji. The first, Blood Manipulation, acquired after consuming Cursed Womb Paintings 4 through 9. But the second, "Shrine", has been awakened through the repeated use of Black Flash. It is similar to Sukuna's, but due to a difference in era, wielding sorcerer, and time of awakening, it is considerably weaker.

The chapter cuts to a mini scene featuring Gojo Satoru, Takuma Ino, Shoko Ieiri, and Kiyotaka Ijichi. With Kento Nanami's passing, his Blunt Blade has no owner. Here, Ino requests the other three present there to permit him to use it. He feels their permission is necessary due to their strong relationship with Nanami.

However, the trio seems quite relaxed about it. Gojo points out that Ino had spent the most time with Nanami since he graduated. Shoko opines that they were already in their third year back then, despite being in a technical college. Lastly, Ijichi felt that it was best suited to Ino. Gojo then concludes by assuring Ino that Nanami trusted him the most.

Cut back to the present, Ino joins the fight by summoning "Number Four: Ryu". From his direction, a massive dragon bursts into the scene, making a beeline for Sukuna. Ino then charges in and swings the blade, only for it to be blocked by Sukuna's foot, falling prey to one more Black Flash from behind. Now getting frustrated, Sukuna sends Ino flying back.

Facing Yuji once more, Sukuna swings a fist at the boy. Despite the blow connecting with Yuji's body, he ignores the pain and punches Sukuna again, pushing him back against a nearby wall. The Demon King looks confused, as Yuji looks to be completely unfazed by his strikes and slashes.

The boy closes the gap between them and lands yet another Black Flash, dead center on Sukuna. The latter then tries to grab Yuji's face but is met with one more Black Flash. The King of Curses screams in anger but notices the Blunt Blade hurled at him.

An injured and worn-out Ino looks like he has made his final contribution to the fight with that move. It proved to be enough as even though Sukuna dodged, it created an opening. Yuji, fully locked in, landed yet one more Black Flash, this time into Sukuna's left side. With that, Yuji has officially shattered the Black Flash record with 8 consecutive Black Flashes of his own.
