Black Ops 6 has seen enormous success since its full release on October 25, 2024. The game topped the charts as the most-played title on Xbox and PlayStation 5 during its launch week. Now, continuing a similar theme, Black Ops 6 has become the biggest launch in Call of Duty's history, as of November 25, 2024.
CoD's official X handle announced the grand achievement, thanking players for the unrivaled attention the game has received. This article will shed more light on the game's 1-month-long history of success.
Black Ops 6 becomes the biggest launch in Call of Duty history
There have been 20 Call of Duty titles in the main franchise, and many more separate branches and versions of the game are available in different regions or platforms. However, it would appear that none of them have seen a reception as grand as 2024's Black Ops 6.
The game claimed the number 1 spot in terms of total players, hours played, and matches played, making it the best launch weekend in CoD history. Now, after exactly a month of release, it is safe to say that the title is one for the history books, as it has set a record for the biggest-ever launch in the franchise.
The CoD HQ engaged about 57% of active Xbox players during launch week and 37% of active players on PlayStation around the same time. It also ranked third on the list of most-played games on PC during that period.
According to SteamDB, the title has kept anywhere between 200,000 and 300,000 players engaged over the past month. These numbers seemingly speak volumes about the game's success among Call of Duty fans.
