OpTic Texas is back at the CDL Championship 2024 Grand Finals
After seven long years, OpTic Texas is finally back at the CDL Championship's biggest stage. The team qualified for the Grand Finals on July 21, 2024, by defeating the defending champions, New York Subliners, in the Winners Finals, 3 - 2.
Earlier this season, OpTic Texas displayed exceptional performance, finishing third in Major 1, second in Major 2, and finally placing first in Major 3. However, the team lost its momentum in the final Major of the season, where it suffered from back-to-back losses to end at 12th place in Major 4.
Thanks to its earlier performance, the team was able to qualify for the CDL Champs in second place with 515 CDL points.
Post its lackluster performance in Major 4, OpTic Texas was unstoppable in its Winners bracket run. It swept its first series against Los Angeles Guerrillas, then won against LA Thieves in Winners Round 2 to advance to the Winners Finals. The team defeated New York Subliners 3 - 2 to make it to the CDL Championship 2024 Grand Finals.
Meanwhile, New York Subliners bounced back in the Elimination Finals against Toronto Ultra to earn a spot in the final round. The two teams will have a rematch series on Sunday, July 21, 2024, on OpTic's home soil.
