Ty Thompson is an American quarterback for the Tulane Green Wave and is a junior in 2024. Thompson is a native of Gilbert, Arizona, and graduated from Mesquite High School. Throughout his high school career, Thompson accumulated over 9,891 yards and 100 touchdowns. He was the All-American Bowl Offensive Player of the Year and the Maxwell Football Club Offensive Player of the Year in 2020. As a senior, he accumulated 3,431 yards for 34 touchdowns and was labeled as the top 25 quarterback recruits in the nation. Thompson also received an invitation to play in the Elite 11 quarterback competition. He was scouted by numerous top programs such as Iowa State, Louisville, Boise State, North Carolina State, Northern Arizona, Arizona, Arizona State, Purdue, Utah, California, Colorado, Duke, Iowa, LSU, Miami (Fla.), Michigan State and Wisconsin before committing to Oregon in 2021.
Ty Thompson began his college football career at the University of Oregon. He was the first five-star rated quarterback to commit to Oregon. In 2021, he appeared in three games as a true freshman and made seven passes for 87 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and rushed three times for 10 yards. In 2022, Thompson played in seven games for the Ducks as a redshirt freshman. His remarkable performances were against Eugene and Eastern Washington, where he threw 11 passes for 72 yards and five passes for 63 yards, respectively. In 2022, he earned a total of 66 total offensive snaps. In 2023, he made five appearances and completed 24 passes successfully for 4 touchdowns and one interception.
