Delhi Capitals (DC) finished fifth in the IPL 2025 season with seven victories in 14 games. The Axar Patel-led side started the season on a strong note, but their campaign turned upside down in the second half, and they failed to seal a playoffs spot.

KL Rahul emerged as the finest batter for the side with 539 runs in 13 innings. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav (15 wickets) was the most successful bowler for the Capitals.

With some mediocre performers in the squad, the DC team management could look towards the market to fill their holes.

The trading window will officially start next month and will be open up to a week before the mini-auction. On that note, let's take a look at a few players who the Capitals would want to acquire for IPL 2026.

#1 Kuldeep Sen

Kuldeep Sen was a part of the Punjab Kings squad in IPL 2025. However, he could not find an opportunity to contribute for the eventual runners-up, warming the bench throughout the season.

In 12 IPL games, Sen has scalped 14 wickets at an economy of 9.63. With his excess pace and wicket-taking ability, he could be a boon to the DC pace bowling attack, who struggled to contain runs in the death overs.

Key Indian pacer Mukesh Kumar took 12 wickets in as many games, while having an economy of 10.32. Meanwhile, Mohit Sharma endured a dismal IPL campaign, where he ended with an average of 128.50.

The DC team management might rope in a pacer, who would look to turn their fortunes around, and Kuldeep Sen might be a good option.

#2 Sam Curran

One of the major worries for Delhi Capitals, especially in the second half, was their reliance on inexprienced players like Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraj Nigam for the final flourish.

With skipper Axar Patel moving up the order, the finishing part was taken care of by Tristan Stubbs, Sharma and Nigam. Although Stubbs did well, he lacked a potent partner at the other end to provide a strong finish to the side.

DC require an experienced finisher in the end, and Sam Curran can perfectly fill that role for the side. Moreover, the side will get a couple of overs from him as well.

Curran played only five games for CSK, slamming a top score of 88. After the all-rounder didn't return to India for latter part of the tournament, he might be released by the franchise ahead of the 2026 season. DC could grab the opportunity to secure his services.

#3 Rachin Ravindra

Chennai Super Kings opener Rachin Ravindra garnered 191 runs in eight innings at an average of 27.28. He was dropped from the side after his consistent failures to provide a good start. It's unlikely that Ravindra will be released ahead of the next auction but if CSK make that mistake, DC have to swoop in.

Delhi Capitals can include the New Zealand international in their setup in place of Faf du Plessis. Approaching 41, du Plessis looked a shadow of his former self, as he scored only 202 runs at an average of 22.44 in IPL 2025.

Ravindra can possibly open with KL Rahul, giving the Capitals a right-left batting combination to trouble the bowlers at the top.
