IPL 2018: CSK look to rope in David Willey

England v Sri Lanka - 1st ODI Royal London One-Day Series 2016
Willey could be the perfect replacement for Jadhav

After taking the Chennai Super Kings to a nail-biting victory in the first match of the Indian Premier League against the Mumbai Indians, Kedar Jadhav was ruled out of the tournament due to a hamstring injury.

With CSK now looking for a replacement for the Indian all-rounder, David Willey seems to be the most preferred candidate, according to Vithushan Ehantharajah of Cricbuzz.

According to the reports, he lodged his paperwork with CSK on Sunday evening, a day after CSK won the first match of the tournament.

Willey is a part of Yorkshire's squad and is supposed to take part in England's domestic competition, however, due to a lot of players having an issue with the counties over new deals on their contracts, county teams are beginning to lose a few players to other sides around the world.

Willey has not played in the IPL ever and will be eager to make his mark in the tournament. His base price for the IPL auction was Rs. 2 crores and he went unsold.

He has played in T20 tournaments around the world and has performed well for whichever team he has played for.

He is one of the leading bowlers for England in the limited-overs format, contributing with the bat and the ball.

He has played a total of 20 T20Is for England and has picked up 24 wickets at an average of 23.95 and economy rate of 8.30. He has also played 34 ODIs for England and has picked up 36 wickets at an average of 36.11.

He has opened the batting for a few teams he has played for and could probably do so if he plays for the Chennai Super Kings.
