Naseem Shah is blessed with a natural whipping action and the ability to generate movement was fast tracked into the Pakistan national team at the age of 16 years and 279 days during the tour of Australia in November 2019.

Since then, Naseem has represented his country in 13 Tests, three ODIs and six T20Is, taking 50 wickets across formats.

Naseem Shah holds the record for the ninth-youngest cricketer to play Tests. He made his debut at the age of 16 years and 279 days against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane on November 21, 2019.

At 16 years and 307 days, Naseem Shah scripted history on December 19, 2019, when he became the second-youngest bowler in history to take a five-wicket-haul in a Test (5/31 against Sri Lanka). He missed the world record by four days to his compatriot, Nasim-ul-Gilani, who claimed 5/116 versus West Indies at 16 years and 303 days in March 1958.

In February 2020, Naseem Shah claimed another record as he became the youngest bowler (16 years and 359 days) to take a hat-trick in international cricket across formats. He achieved the record at the expense of Bangladesh in the Rawalpindi Test, dismissing Najmul Hossain, Taijul Islam, and Mahmudullah off successive deliveries.

Naseem Shah made his ODI debut against Netherlands in August 2022, and has just played three games so far.

  • Naseem Shah is the ninth-youngest to take a five-wicket-haul in ODIs. The right-arm seamer was 19 years and 187 days old when he notched up figures of 5/33 against the Netherlands in Rotterdam on August 21, 2022.

Naseem Shah made his T20I debut in Asia Cup 2022 and has thus far featured in six games in the shortest format.

  • In a Super 4 fixture of the Asia Cup 2022 against Afghanistan, Naseem Shah smashed consecutive sixes in the final over to take Pakistan to the final. In the process, Naseem became the first No.10/11 batter in T20I history to finish off a run-chase with two sixes.
