As shown during the Mario Kart World Direct, the rewind time feature in the game is one of the most useful new solo tools, letting players instantly backtrack a few seconds during a race to fix mistakes, retry missed shortcuts, or practice tighter turns. It’s not a flashy power-up or some cheat code — it’s a simple trick built to help players improve.
Here is a guide on using the rewind time feature in the following title.

To rewind time in the game, hold the Down button on the D-Pad. Your kart will reverse its movement back through the race. Once you let go of the button, time resumes from wherever you stop.
This feature only works in solo modes — Single Player and Free Roam. It’s not available in Online or Co-op, and it doesn’t affect other racers. That means if you rewind while racing bots or in time trial, they’ll keep moving forward while you go back a bit. You don’t pause the whole race — you just rewind your kart.
When should you use Rewind?
1) Fixing a mistake
If you hit a wall, fall off the track, or miss a shortcut you wanted to take, use Rewind to go back and try again. It saves time and avoids restarting the entire lap.
2) Practicing a track
The best use of Rewind is learning the layout of new tracks. Whether it’s a tricky corner, a jump, or a hidden route, you can keep going back until you get it right.
Just remember — Rewind won’t stop weapons like Blue shells or change what others are doing. It’s not for getting ahead in races. It’s a tool to help you practice and improve.
