Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda's latest transfer news and rumours roundup. Today's stories feature the latest update on Gareth Bale which might send shockwaves throughout the globe and much more. On that note, let's take a look at the major happenings across Europe that made headlines on May 12, 2017:

Real Madrid Galactico wants Manchester United move

Gareth Bale has had a torrid season with Los Blancos as the Welshman has struggled with form and fitness through the course of the current season. Earlier reports suggested that club president Florentino Perez is losing patience with the 27-year old and wants to offload the star signing for another big name in the summer. Independent now report that Bale is willing to leave Real Madrid for Manchester United who seem to be the most interested in the winger.

Diario Gol also report that Bale's agent met with United officials last week as the deal is very close to being agreed upon by the player and the club. He has been a long-term target for the Red Devils but Jose Mourinho has made it clear to the club officials that the Bale deal must be finalised only if they fail in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann.

Valdes and Guardiola go a long way back

The Manchester City boss has struggled with his goalkeeping options at the Etihad with both Claudio Bravo and Willy Caballero failing to be at the required level. Signing a new custodian is a top priority for Guardiola this summer as ESPN report that he is readying a deal for his former Barcelona player, Victor Valdes.

The duo were highly successful back in Spain and it can prove to be a smart move by the City board. After getting relegated with Middlesbrough, Valdes is all set to leave the Riverside club and can prove to be a cheap yet useful buy for the Sky Blues.

The Argentine is rumoured to be offered the vacant managerial post at Inter Milan

After sacking Stefan Pioli on Tuesday, Inter's owners have started work on getting a new manager on board for the new season. Antonio Conte has been their primary choice for the hot seat but he is unlikely to leave Chelsea after just a season.

Sky Sports Italia have reported that Inter have turned their attention to Tottenham Hotspurs' Mauricio Pochettino and are ready to double his wages if he agrees to come and manage at the San Siro. Luis Enrique, Diego Simeone and AS Roma's Luciano Spaletti are the other options on the table for Inter.

Oriel Romeu is a FC Barcelona academy product

Without Sergio Busquets, Barcelona look like a different side altogether and the club hierarchy has looked at the idea of bringing in an able cover for the Spaniard. They have zeroed in on Southampton's Oriel Romeu. The former Chelsea man is a La Masia product and is back on his former club's radar to help and improve the quality in their first team squad.

Romeu was recently crowned as the Saints' player of the year and it will take a bid of around £20 million from the Catalans to prize the defensive midfielder away from St. Mary's.
