Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 patch notes (Main): New content and changes

1) Deku from My Hero Academia

Following the success of collaborations with Naruto and Dragon Ball, My Hero Academia is the latest anime to be featured in-game. In the trailer for Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1, Deku can be seen using his powers to punch a hole through the castle walls.

While this might be mere cinematic marketing, there's a chance that a special item will be added to the game, allowing players to use a similar ability. For the time being, there's no information regarding the same.

2) Motorcycles

After being teased nearly six months ago, motorcycles are finally being added to the game. They are dirt bikes called Trail Trashers. Players will be able to perform tricks and use weapons while riding them.

With the ability to ride and shoot at the same time, the combat meta will drastically shift. Solo players are going to have the time of their lives using this new combat technique.

3) Battle Pass and other UI changes

The Battle Pass has received a major UI change. What constitutes a page has been redefined, and the UX should be far more satisfying as well. While some users may see this change as something that is unnecessary, the Battle Pass interface does look cleaner.

In addition to the Battle Pass, the game has also revived some UI changes in certain places. However, until the servers go live, it's difficult to determine how impactful these UI changes will be.

4) New Hurdle mechanic

With parkour, vaulting, sprinting, and sliding already in-game, there surely is no movement mechanic left to be added in, right? Well, not exactly. According to leakers, a new mechanic called Hurdle is being added to Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1.

Unlike the parkour mechanic, which allows players to jump over high walls, this one will be used to hurdle obstacles while sprinting. This will give players a tactical edge by allowing them to stay mobile at all times.

5) Smaller map

The Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 map is smaller than anticipated. However, this will allow players to move across the terrain much faster and allow for some action-packed combat.

On that note, it has to be mentioned that while this will not be an issue in Zero Build mode, it may irk a few players in the normal build mode. Given that resource collection is important, a smaller map means fewer objects to harvest resources from.

6) Free loading screen - Refractured Light

With the start of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1, players can expect to collect a few freebies here and there. Although Winterfest 2022 is some time away, the freebies have already begun to flow.

By entering the code shown above, players will be able to acquire a free Loading Screen called Refractured Light. It shows Geno (aka The Ageless), standing watch over the island.

7) New weapons and consumables

A plethora of new weapons have been added to Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1. These include a healthy mix of close-range and long-range firearms. Here's the list:

  • Ex-Caliber Rifle
  • Thunder Shotgun
  • Maven Auto Shotgun
  • Red-Eye Assault Rifle
  • Twin Mag SMG
  • Tactical Pistol
  • Shockwave Hammer

Staying true to the tradition of adding new items, brand-new consumables have been brought in as well. Players can consume these items to heal and regenerate certain stats. Here's the list of new consumable items for Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1:

  • Slap Berries
  • Slap Juice
  • Sky Jellies

8) Geno, Doom Slayer, and Geralt of Rivia

Geno (aka The Ageless), Doom Slayer, and Geralt of Rivia skins will be up for grabs via the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 Battle Pass. These skins have already become the talk of the town and will be some of the most sought-after in the game's history.

However, unlocking them in the Battle Pass will take some time. Additionally, not all of them will be up for grabs at the start of the new season. Some, like Geralt of Rivia, are mid-season skins.
