Eric Cole, the American golfer, has won 58 professional titles on the Minor League Golf Tour. He was born on June 12, 1988 and turned professional in 2009, but gained notoriety in 2023 when he became the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. He was the second-oldest rookie of the year, winning at the age of 35.

Even after going pro, Cole had to wait more than a decade for his Korn Ferry Tour card in 2017 and then his PGA Tour card in 2022. Due to his failure to make the cut at Q-School each year, he was forced to play professional golf at the lower levels.

Cole played in 37 events in the 2023 season, making the top-10 in seven and the runner-up in two, finishing 43rd at the FedEx Cup. As of June 2024, his 10th finish at the Genesis Invitational is his best finish so far.

Eric Cole’s Driver

Eric Cole makes use of a Project X Even Flow Riptide LX Proto 70g shaft and his driver is a PXG Black Ops 0311 set to 9 degrees. Cole's driver of choice, the Black Ops and Black Ops 0311 Tour-1, is all new for 2024 and was chosen as one of the top drivers this year.

PXG sought to improve this driver's forgiveness over previous versions, and like many other manufacturers, they aimed to achieve 10k MOI with this driver. During testing, the Golf Monthly Gear Team was truly impressed by the Black Ops' improved appearance, enhanced sound quality, and improved feel.

Eric Cole’s Fairways

There are two fairway woods in Eric Cole's bag right now: a 3-wood and a 5-wood. Using the same Project X shaft and specs as his driver, the former is a 15-degree TaylorMade Stealth fairway wood. Though it's been a few years, this fairway was regarded by many experts as one of the best fairway woods when it first came out.

Eric Cole is using the PXG Gen 5 model of 5-wood, which is driven by an 80g TX shaft from the Project X HZRDUS Gen4. The question of whether golfers should use a 3-hybrid or 5-wood is often debated, but Cole has been using his 5-wood for several seasons, having won PGA Rookie of the Year with it.

Eric Cole’s Irons

Professionals who tour increasingly prefer combo sets over complete sets of bladed irons. Cole is one example of this, choosing to use a 4-iron in the 0317 CB model after purchasing the PXG 0317 ST irons from 5-PW.

Using a slightly more forgiving iron, like one of the best low-handicapper irons, will give a little more forgiveness, ball speed, and launch in the longer irons. Cole uses a Dynamic Gold Mid X100 shaft for all of his iron play.

Eric Cole’s Wedges

The new 60-degree Titleist SM10 Vokey wedge, along with the 50- and 54-degree Titleist Vokey SM9 wedges, are the three Titleist Vokey wedges that Eric Cole keeps in his bag.

Since Wedgeworks Vokey wedges are completely customizable to match each player's needs in terms of loft, grind, and bounce, many tour players use them. Players often carry various wedges with varied grinds and bounces to fit each course because there are so many variations of courses, grasses, and surfaces on tour.

Eric Cole’s Putter

Eric Cole appears to be a bit of a fidgeter when it comes to the putter he uses. It appears that he is now using a PXG Bat Attack center-shaft putter, though he has used an Odyssey White Hot OG #1 in the past.

Golf Monthly found the PXG Battle Ready II Bat Attack model to be very helpful for people who have alignment issues, and they loved this model throughout testing. It successfully argued that it was among the greatest putters available on the market owing to its smart design and superb feel.

Eric Cole’s Golf Ball

The golf ball used by Eric Cole is the Titleist Pro V1x. Many of the finest players in the world rely on the Pro V1 and Pro V1x, which are regarded as two of the best golf balls money can buy, to finish the job on a Sunday afternoon.

The Pro V1x Cole is a little harder than the Pro V1, but it has a longer game spin and a higher flight. Titleist Pro V1x is also used by Cameron Smith, Jordan Spieth, and Justin Thomas.

Eric Cole’s Apparel and Footwear

Eric Cole has been wearing attire from Tasc apparel, having signed with them, since mid-2023. Cole has spent a few seasons wearing the same style of FootJoy Sneaker Golf Speciality sneakers.
