A GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition update was released on November 12, 2024, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S players. As per Rockstar Games Support, here are the patch notes for the same:
- It fixes numerous bugs and glitches.
- It made numerous improvements to the gameplay.
- It added the Classic Lighting mode, allowing players to restore the look and feel of the sky in the original titles.
While the official GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition patch notes by Rockstar Games don’t explain what fixes and improvements it has introduced to the games, the Grand Theft Auto community has found a couple of things it fixed or added.
As per a recent report by @videotechuk_ on X, here are some of the changes one can expect in the trilogy after installing the November 12-13 patch:
1) GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition patch notes - Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas:
- Added birds
- Added a new movement option for improved gameplay
- Added date and time for saves
- Updated the Disclaimer screen highlighting the Rockstar Games branding and removal of mentions of Grove Street Games
- Fixed shadow shifting issue, enabling it to now render in real-time
- Updated reflections (from Unreal Engine's SSR to Cubemap reflections)
- Improved overall performance on Xbox Series X/S and PS5
- Fixed frame-pacing
- Removed some 3D interiors
- Tried to improve performance on PC as well
- Added lens flares
- Fixed an issue that used to cause 3D interiors stretched-out when viewed closely
- Improved visual quality on Nintendo Switch
- Fixed various collision issues
2) GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition patch notes: Grand Theft Auto 3:
- Fixed Shoreside Vale garage door issue
- Fixed the Staunton Island bug
- Improved pistol sound effects
- Improved rain effects
- Improved handling of weapons like Shotguns and Assault Rifles while moving
- Seemingly patched the Eightballs Autoyard spelling
- Made the Happy Blimp's sign more gritty
- Improved the McAdam Airways sign with a redesigned high-resolution asset
