GTA Online has remained incredibly popular over its 11 years of existence, but the user experience hasn't been problem-free. The latest issue that some players have reportedly been facing, particularly on the PS5 and Xbox, is getting banned or suspended for no reason. A recent victim of this is YouTuber Jackknife Finnegan, who unexpectedly received a suspension notice during a livestream of the game.
The YouTuber's account has been suspended until November 28, 2024, and his GTA Online character will be reset. Other notable Grand Theft Auto community members, such as YouTuber GhillieMaster and Rockstar Games insider and data miner Tez2, have reacted to the situation.
Interestingly, the latter suggests Rockstar might be aware of the issue, and that behind it could be troll, mass-reporting players.
GTA Online YouTuber reportedly gets banned for no reason, insider suggests other PS5 players are also facing this problem
As seen in the image above, Tez2 believes Rockstar Games might be aware of this ban/suspension issue. The insider also claimed that other victims of this scenario were all PS5 players:
"I reckon Rockstar is aware. A list of players within small communities have been victims of this too. Oddly enough, all on PS5."
Notably, one of the comments on Tez2's tweet was apparently from a PS5 player who claimed they were banned despite getting jumped by three other Grand Theft Auto Online gamers.
As mentioned earlier, Tez2 suggests that troll mass-reporting others might be the reason behind this, stating that the case was similar to GhillieMaster's from earlier this year. For those unaware, the latter's Xbox account was banned from GTA Online after seemingly being reported.
That being said, the YouTuber's Xbox account ban was lifted a few days later. Although Jackknife Finnegan's PS5 account hasn't been permanently banned, his getting suspended out of the blue for a set number of days, and his character being reset still seems odd nonetheless.
