Mitchell Marsh [Player of the Match, Lucknow Super Giants]: I have had a few years before, played for Deccan Chargers in 2010, and it has been a long journey since. I think I have been given the opportunity to open the batting. great to have a partnership with Aiden Markram on and off the field. We haven't had the best of the season, but the last two games have motivated us to win games for the franchise. I thought they bowled well in the powerplay. Today is a good lesson to hang in there, and once you have a few good partnerships, you could make the most of this good wicket. It has been very disappointing, all teams come in wth their sights set on the prize. Any team can beat any team, which is why it is the best tournament in the world

Rishabh Pant [captain, Lucknow Super Giants]: We talk about playing good cricket, and we have shown that on occasions that we can do it. There were moments and there was time in the tournament where we had chances, but it is a part and parcel of the game. Always a question of getting the top three, the way Shahrukh batted showed that the middle order can do it, but the way bowlers bowled defending a par score showed we can defend it. There was some injuries but with the way the whole batting unit did was great to see. We lacked in fielding and bowling, but we cannot make excuses about it; we need to take it on our chin and move on.

William O’Rourke: Yeah it was a lot of fun out there. When we put 240 on the board it was always going to be very difficult for them. They were hammering the hard lengths and took a leaf out of their game plan. Yeah you have to be flexible in T20 cricket, still working on a few things. I am drenched in sweat, getting used to the conditions and showing respect is really key. Yeah it's awesome, we have a great crew. Both the Indian guys and the overseas boys.

Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans captain): I think we have 15-20 runs extra. If we had stopped them to around 210-220 it would have made a massive difference. Honestly, we bowled well in the powerplay. We didn't get any wickets but after that they scored 180 in 16 overs which is a lot. We were right in the game till the 16th over. Lot of positives for us with Rutherford and Shahrukh batting really well. Getting back to momentum will be important. It will be crucial to get back to winning ways and carry the momentum in the playoffs.

And there you have it, a good comprehensive win for the Lucknow Super Giants. They were on the hunt for it throughout, aiming to get that and have a boost this season. However, it comes for them when all has been said and done. They leave a dent in GT's campaign and now will be hoping to end their season on a high with a win against RCB.

GT started the power play like they always do, openers being watchful for a couple of deliveries, and then going after the bowling in the power play. However, this time, one of their openers - Sai Sudharsan - was dismissed after getting a start. Soon after, Shubman Gill also perished in his bid to take the attack to the bowling.

The blow came when a well-set Jos Buttler was dismissed, and GT had all three of their famed top-order batters back in the hut. But then, as the saying goes, when one door closes, another one opens. GT wanted a game to test their middle order out, and they got what they wished for. Shahrukh Khan and Sherfane Rutherford put together 86 runs for the fourth wicket, ensuring that they had a base to attack.

However, that advantage went down the drain as wickets at regular intervals of Rutherford, Rahul Tewatia, and Arshad Khan saw GT lose wickets in no time. It got a little bit too much for Shahrukh in the end, who himself succumbed to the pressure, which saw the game pretty much dusted and ended.

LSG was sans Digvesh Rathi, and his absence in the middle was telling. He was a threat with pace off the ball; however, his replacement for this game, Shahbaz Ahamed, was a bit expensive bar his last over. Will O’Rourke did a fine job, picking up three wickets and registering his best IPL figures. Akash Singh and Avesh Khan shared a spell, and together, the figures were past the graph, but they made an impact by picking up three wickets in the eight overs they collectively bowled.
