11:53 PM IST: That brings us to the end of our coverage from this penultimate group match and we finally have the first among the top two teams. The final group match tomorrow between RCB and LSG will decide the fate of RCB and GT. A win for RCB will take them to the top two while a loss will mean GT goes through in the top two despite losing their last two matches. Again a thrilling game awaits us tomorrow. Josh Inglis is the Player of the Match, here is what he had to say: Yeah I think the left right partnership really helped that. We just played smart cricket, picking our bowlers. We managed the bowlers really well, at the end of the day we got the win. I faced a lot of Mitchell, bit of cat and mouse. He is a fantastic bowler. I don't think I have to say much to Priyansh. He is such a talented guy and batted superbly. Yeah as he said before, I was coming in at four, I struggled for rhythm early on in the tournament but a few starts in the powerplay has helped me. I don't run that quickly, it's beauty of being my size. I don't have the power like the other guys and have to pick the gaps which suits my game.

Shreyas Iyer (Punjab Kings captain): I personally feel every individual stepped up at the right time. We were prepared to win from any situation and everyone including the management and support staff have stepped in. Ricky has been fantastic with the player management and my effort was to build the trust of the players. You have keep the relation with each, the dressing room has been top notch from game one which helped us a lot. The way Priyansh started was so pleasing to the eyes. I just love their approach to their game. (On Inglis) Yeah so the plan was to make him play more in the XI and he was the only guy whose position was chopping and changing. The number three spot eventually worked wonders for him. The camaraderie I have with Ricky is great. I tell him you do the thinking outside and I do the thinking job inside the field.

Ricky Ponting (Head Coach, Punjab Kings): The younger guys this season have done well. 4-5 games, I knew Priyansh would be the find of the tournament, and we shouldn't forget about Iyer, who has been great on and off the field. We have enjoyed the company and are looking forward to the tournament. We had a great working relationship when playing in Delhi. I have known him as a person, and he is quality, and when you are trying to change the culture, you need people like them. Yuzi Chahal missed out on this game, but he will be back soon. If you ask everyone, they will have good things to say about Shreyas. We will celebrate tonight, we have done it after every game except last night. All of the social media group and support staff have been with us throughout. We will take an afternoon flight tomorrow and see what training routines we need to figure out. We will be looking to rest the players a bit and then get to training. He will be tough to replace. We brought Kyle Jamieson into the XI and gave him a game to get him the feel of the tournament. He will be the obvious replacement for someone like him

Hardik Pandya (captain, Mumbai Indians): The way the wicket played, we haven't been up to the mark on that one and missed it. It has always been very tough, and if you take the leg off the accelerator, then the other teams are keen to win games. The message is clear: to get ready for the knockouts. As an overall batting unit, we were 20 runs short, and we will figure it out post-game. We backed Ashwani, we felt that it would work today, but that is fine. It would have been the same; the second wicket stand was outstanding, where they took on certain deliveries and got the runs. Overall, we were not up to the mark, and that cost us. We need to play good cricket. What template will work as a batting group. The bowling has been great throughout the season. A couple of things we need to figure out, we knew what was at stake, and we knew what we needed to do. We are in the same situation as four days ago and we are looking forward to the Eliminator

It turned out to be a pretty dominating run chase from the Punjab Kings as they defeated the Mumbai Indians by runs in the penultimate group game to confirm their place in the top two. They will now face the first Qualifier and have a double shot at the final. The target of 185 was going to be a tricky one for the Punjab Kings infront of a world class Mumbai Indians bowling attack but the partnership of Priyansh Arya and Josh Inglis ensured they reached the target with relative ease in the end.

Priyansh started the run chase with a couple of boundaries of the bowling Trent Boult to make it a productive opening over. Deepak Chahar then bowled a maiden to Prabhsimran Singh but an injury didn't quite allow him to have the flow in the next two overs. Priyansh batted really well in the powerplay but Prabhsimran struggled to get going before he was deceived by a Jasprit Bumrah which brought an end to his innings.

From there on, it was all Punjab Kings barring a few overs from Jasprit Bumrah. Inglis put the pressure back on the MI bowlers right from the outset and took a liking to Mitchell Santner which took MI off guard. Priyansh played the situation perfectly as Inglis played the attacking role during that phase of the match. Inglis used the depth of the crease to a nicety while Priyansh always kept finding boundaries just when the required rate was going up a bit.

The duo shared a 109 run stand before Santner had the wicket of Priyansh. However by then, the match was almost in PBKS’ pocket. From there on, MI bowled a few tight overs but the likes of Inglis and Shreyas ensured they got closer to the target before Santner struck Inglis right in front of the stumps. Shreyas then struck a couple of powerful shots to see them over the finish line..

11:17 PM IST: What a run chase from the Punjab Kings as they confirm their place in the top two. What a dramatic change in fortunes from the last eleven years. PBKS deserves every bit of it for the manner they played all through the tournament. It was never going to be an easy task against the Mumbai Indians, a team loaded with superstars but they weren't bothered. First the bowlers restricted MI to a below par score of 184 and the it was a clinical effort from the batters. Josh Inglis and Priyansh Arya were the stars of the run chase before Shreyas Iyer struck some stunning shots to take PBKS home in the penultimate over.
