That is all from here but the action does not stop at The Hundred as it is a double-header day. London Spirit take on Northern Supercharges and you can follow all the live action here. From here, it is time for myself, Sourabh Agrawal to take your leave on behalf of Meeth Agrawal. Cheers!
Hilton Cartwright (Player of the Match, 51* off 19): That was an absolute thriller, a match that ebbed and flowed throughout. We're just delighted to get the win in the end. I just went out there to have a crack and play with some freedom. A couple of guys came into the side, and even with Chris Jordan coming back from injury, he still bowled incredibly well. It was a great all-around team performance to get the win.
129, today by Southern Brave, is the FOURTH LOWEST TOTAL DEFENDED IN MEN'S HUNDRED.
5:53 PM Local Time, 10:23 PM IST: Southern Brave (129/8) beat Welsh Fire (125/8) by 4 runs
Hilton Cartwright 51*(19) | Jofra Archer 3/20 Tom Kohler-Cadmore 25(28) Matt Henry 2/5
A valuable 4 points for the Southern Brave who move up to number 3 in the points table and not only that they also keep their spotless record against Welsh Fire in tact.
They had posted 129 on the board on the back of a 19-ball fifty from Hilton Cartwright who seemed to be batting on a different track as opposed to any other batter in this game. That score, at that moment, seemed to be par or just unders with the way the ball was moving, specially when new. Matt Henry's spell of 2/5 in 20 balls in the first innings was a testimony to exactly that and a masterclass at seam and swing bowling.
However, the only thing that swung at the start of the second innings was Jonny Bairstow's bat as he whirl winded his way to a 10-bal 22 within the powerplay before getting out. The team score was 24/1 in 12 balls and it seemed like Fire would get an easy win. They moved up to 45/1 but then the flow of wickets started. Soon it was 50/4 as the introduction of Archer brought success for Brave. Saif Zaib played a scratchy knock but Fire kept losing wickets regularly.
In the end, it was upto TKC who had grinded it out against his natural style and took it close towards the end but he too fell in the penultimate to spin and then it was mopped up clinically for a 4-run win.
20.0
19.5 Chris Jordan to Matt Henry, JUST A SINGLE! SOUTHERN BRAVE WIN BY 4 RUNS!!! CHRIS JORDAN HAS DONE IT! A low full toss on the leg stump, Henry cleared his front leg but manages to just smack it down to long on. A great comeback from them with bat and ball to clinch a win out of nowhere.
Another conference in the Brave camp, Jordan, Vince and Overton the members. A few tweaks to the field and think they are set.
19.4 Chris Jordan to David Payne, a wide yorker outside off, Payne went for the scoop but inside edges it to square leg. Just one run. 6 needed off the final ball now.
7 needed off 2, Fire need to find the fence here. Vince has another chat with his bowler, he has been having those after every ball this set
19.3 Chris Jordan to Matt Henry, full and on the off, Henry stayed deep in the crease but could only hole out to long on. One run. 7 needed off 2 now.
19.2 Chris Jordan to David Payne, fuller and in the slot outside off, driven hard to extra covers. One run.
19.1 Chris Jordan to Matt Henry, hard length outside off, Henry tries to clear his front leg and slice it. Gets a thick outside edge behind to third man. Looks like it was racing away but the fielder cuts it nicely to stop. However, the batters scamper for three.
An exceptional set from Coles, perhaps a match-winning one. Fire need 12 off the final set with numbers 9 and 10 in the middle and Chris Jordan to bowl it.
19.0
18.5 James Coles to David Payne, MISSED STUMPING CHANCE! A yorker outside off, Payne charged down the track to slice it. He misses, the keeper misses and they run one bye behind to short third.
Extra fielder in the ring as a penalty for slow ball-rate for Brave
18.4 James Coles to Matt Henry, length and flat angling in on the pads. Henry moves away and mistimes the pull to mid on for one.
18.3 James Coles to Matt Henry, slow and on a length outside off, slashed hard but straight to Jordan at short covers.
Matt Henry batting at 10th position
Is that the game for the Brave? TKC goes and perhaps the hopes for Fire too.
