Mikel Arteta responds to John Stones speculation
John Stones
Mikel Arteta has shut down all rumours claiming he is interested in bringing Manchester City defender John Stones to Arsenal. The Gunners are looking to strengthen their defensive unit in the January transfer window as they fear a series of injuries to their defenders have deterred their challenge for a top-four place in the Premier League.
Stones was reported to be one of Arsenal's primary targets this winter but Arteta was quick to dismiss the speculation. When asked about the defender, the Spaniard said, "John is a player that I really like and I followed. We signed him when I was at Manchester City and I worked with him for many years and know him well. When I look at centre-backs, he has many attributes that I like from one, but we’re not interested."

Olivier Giroud

According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio is currently in London to meet with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur officials to discuss the potential transfers of Olivier Giroud and Christian Eriksen. Spurs reportedly want €20 million for Eriksen but the Serie A giants are only prepared to cough up €12 million plus potential add-ons. Meanwhile, Chelsea and Inter's inability to reach an agreement over a transfer fee is the only thing stalling Giroud's move to the San Siro.

Speaking of Dembele's future on RMC, Aulas said, "Moussa is an excellent player. A player who we need. We are taking explicit measures in our recruitment to not bring someone in who will compete for his position. It is not a question of money. Moussa will be with us."

Manchester City to reject any Arsenal transfer bid for John Stones
John Stones

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City will reject any attempts from Arsenal to sign John Stones in the January transfer window. Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is understood to be interested in bringing the defender to the Emirates but the Citizens have no plans to sell any players, especially centre-backs, as they have to deal with a defensive crisis of their own.
Pep Guardiola has been forced to shift Fernandinho from the midfield to central defence after Aymeric Laporte sustained a knee injury in August last year and cannot risk losing another centre-back in the transfer market.
