Axolotls are passive aquatic mobs in Minecraft. They seldom spawn in Lush Cave biomes and are friendly towards players. Players can pick these creatures up in water buckets and take them anywhere they want as an item. These creatures can also help players fight against aquatic hostile mobs like guardians, elder guardians, and the drowned.
Axolotls have seven hearts of health, but can fight cleverly with aquatic monsters. They can play dead when they take damage and prevent monsters from attacking them again. During this time, they can heal and get back into the fight. Axolotls also remove mining fatigue and apply regeneration status effects on players during a fight. Hence, they are considered as some of the best mobs to have for aquatic exploration.
There are a total of five different types of axolotls in Minecraft. Here is everything to know about all of them.

Every type of axolotl in Minecraft
Leucistic

Leucistic is one of the common axolotls that spawn in Lush Cave biomes. It is completely pink in color, with some pixels in its texture having different shades of pink.
The name is apt for this variant since leucistic means lack of melanin or skin pigmentation, which results in several animals being either white or pink.
Wild

Wild axolotl is another common variant of the mob that has different shades of brown as its texture. This is as common as any of the four common axolotls and can spawn in the Lush Caves biome. It has all the same properties as a normal axolotl.
Gold

Gold is another common axolotl variant found in Lush Caves. As the picture shows and the name suggests, it is a yellow or gold colored creature, with orange as the accent color on its limbs, tail, and nose edges.
Cyan

Cyan is also a great common axolotl variant that can be found in the cave biome. It is one of the most beautiful variants because of its color combination. It has a white and light blue texture on its main body, while its limbs, tentacles, and tail edges are pink.
Most players might mistakenly consider this a rare axolotl, but it is as common as the other four mentioned above.
Blue

While all other axolotls are common, the blue axolotl is considered to be the rarest of them all. It is so difficult to find that it is one of the rarest mobs to find in Minecraft.
Firstly, this mob does not spawn naturally in Lush Caves or any other biome. The only way to spawn this axolotl variant is to breed other axolotls to get one of them. However, the chance of getting a blue axolotl through breeding is 0.083%. Hence, the blue axolotl is the most special variant, but it is extremely difficult to get.
