Minecraft's next major update, 1.21, also known as Tricky Trials, is right around the corner. While it doesn't have an official release date yet, Mojang has historically announced the launch of major patches near the end of May, with the releases typically happening in June. Since we're nearing the end of May, it's the perfect time to get familiar with all the huge features and additions that will arrive with the update.

Detailed below are five features in Tricky Trials that will revolutionize Minecraft forever, along with what makes these changes so impactful.

5 Tricky Trials features that will change Minecraft forever

1) Crafter

It's easy to see why Tricky Trial's crafter block will revolutionize Minecraft. This is a new redstone component that is able to take items and input, combine them in a crafting table interface, and output a totally new material. The crafter is adding a vanilla means of automated crafting, a feature commonly associated with the best technical mods for this title.

The potential of the crafter is nearly unlimited. Any number of different amazing Minecraft loot farms can be connected and combined to automatically produce complex items through it. This is huge for both convenience and efficiency, as they can produce more items without player interference.

2) The Mace

Tricky Trials is also bringing a new weapon, the first since the Crossbow was added. The Mace is an amazing utility weapon, able to convert fall damage into attack damage with a large AOE knockback blast affecting all mobs near the original target.

This blending of utility and damage, as well as its three new custom Mace enchantments, makes this an incredibly unique weapon. Hopefully, future weapons will follow its example and be different enough from all other options in this category to justify hunting down their crafting ingredients.

3) Trial chambers

Trial chambers will be Tricky Trial's main addition. These are amazing combat-oriented structures unlike anything else seen before in the game. They are large and mostly made of copper and tuff blocks, both of which have been greatly expanded on in Tricky Trials as well.

They are filled with trial spawners, a new type of spawner that doesn't care about light levels and will always spawn its mobs when it sees a player. However, they will only present a few waves of enemies before entering a cooldown and spitting out reward items. These bonuses can include trial keys needed to open the main draw of a trial chamber: the new Minecraft vault block.

This is a unique loot container that contains different loot for each player that opens it. This is the first time Mojang has introduced personalized loot to a structure, a huge change that benefits players on any of Minecraft's servers. It will be interesting to see where else Mojang adds personalized loot since it's such a major new feature.

4) Bad omen

Bad omen is a status effect that received an unexpected overhaul in the snapshots for the 1.21 update. This changed how it was applied. Rather than being automatically used when a raid captain is killed, it will instead drop an ominous bottle. These are new consumables with levels one to five that apply a matching level of bad omen.

Moreover, this entry is dynamic now. For example, bad omen doesn't start raids anymore. Instead, it becomes raid omen if you enter a village. The same happens with trial chambers; it morphs into trial omen when you access a trial chamber. It will be very interesting to see where else Mojang introduces new branching paths for the new bad omen effect.

5) Potions of oozing

Potions of oozing are one of four new potion types being added to Tricky Trials. These will grant the oozing status effect, which will cause the affected mob to spawn two small slimes when killed. These potions require a slime block to brew, but since they can be made into splash potions, it'll be easy to get more than a slime block back.

That will make slime farming even easier than it has already become due to slime farms being made viable in swamps.
