Mojang surprised all of its fans by introducing Vibrant Visuals at the first Minecraft Live of 2025. This visual upgrade is arguably one of the biggest features the game has ever received. It offers volumetric lighting, shadows, reflections, and fog, along with many other visual features. It uses Mojang's new graphics engine, Render Dragon, which was previously only used as a test feature in beta/preview versions.

During the same event, Mojang revealed that Java Edition will eventually get this feature, which is now only available in Bedrock Edition. As the months went by, it became evident that the team intended to include the feature in Chase the Skies, the upcoming game drop.

Mojang's very own shader pack will soon be available for Bedrock Edition players to activate and experience.

During Chase the Skies' development, Mojang also brought several major changes to saddles and leads that will arrive with the game drop.

Firstly, they made saddles craftable and allowed two entities to be connected with a lead without any connection to the player. These two features alone will be quite game-changing since players will now be able to craft saddles and travel the world more easily, and also transport entities more easily.

Lead also received various other changes in physics, tensile strength before breaking, and others to make it even better and useful than it already was.

For 16 years, the only way to fly in Minecraft was to find and use an elytra after defeating the Ender Dragon. Hence, flying in the game was considered an endgame activity. Now, however, Mojang will release the happy ghast, which is a new friendly mob that will allow players to fly on it.

This mob can be grown from a dried ghast, and it wears a harness for players to sit on. Happy ghast can fly around anywhere, allowing players to travel a lot easily compared to an elytra, even though it is a lot slower than one.
