Cobalt Paste in Dune Awakening is used to create everything from Buggy parts to Suspensor Belts and more. It's utilized in over 200 recipes (210, to be precise), which is bound to increase as the game gets new content in due time.
Unlike Aluminum Ore, which can be found lying about (quite literally), obtaining Cobalt Paste is a complicated, labour-intensive process. There are two steps involved – if you've progressed far enough, it shouldn't be too difficult getting it yourself.
How to get Cobalt Paste in Dune Awakening

To get started, you'll require a Buggy and a Stillsuit to survive the long travel. Your goal will be to reach the Hagga Rift region and look for an underground cave complex. Located within is Erythrite Crystal. You'll need a Cutteray to extract this mineral.
It is recommended that you mine as much as you can safely carry back to your base. Just be sure not to attract Sandworms, or you'll lose everything if you get eaten. On the bright side, if you do get eaten, you'll get a Worm Tooth, which you can then use to craft the Unfixed Crysknife – a Literjon half full situation.
Coming back to Cobalt Paste, once you're back at your base, you'll need Water and a Chemical Refinery (Small works, but Medium is better), to make it. If you're using a Small Chemical Refinery, you'll require:
- Erythrite Crystal (x3)
- Water (x75)
- Time (x15)
With the Medium Chemical Refinery, you'll need:
- Erythrite Crystal (x2)
- Water (x75)
- Time (x10)
Whichever one you choose, the final product will be the same: Cobalt Paste (x1). However, if you plan on making the most of your resources, the Medium Chemical Refinery is a better option. You will need to invest time and resources to get it, but once it's up and running, it'll help you save resources in the long run.
How important is Cobalt Paste in Dune Awakening?

Simply put, Cobalt Paste is very important in Dune Awakening. As mentioned, it's used in many recipes, some of which are part of the late-game experience. It's also a part of the recipes that pertain to industrial or mechanized equipment.
This includes things like the Ornithopter, Buggy, Power Packs, and even a Blood Extractor, which will be useful if you draw water from blood frequently. On a side note, you could also use Kaleff's Drinker to get water.
That said, when mining Erythrite Crystal, try to get as much as you can every run and use the Medium Chemical Refinery to conserve this mineral. It may not seem like much, but every Erythrite Crystal saved can be used for something else at the appropriate time.
