If you want great guns in Dune Awakening, you’ll naturally need Gun Parts as a part of the process. While the first guns won’t require Gun Parts, if you’re trying to make better versions of the Maula Pistol, Lasguns, or guns like the Standard Karpov 38, you do need some broken down weapons to utilize.
It’s not enough to simply use Steel Ingots for some of these guns in Dune Awakening; Gun Parts are going to be a necessity. If you’re looking for these useful, broken down weapons, to craft something better, read on.
Where to get Gun parts in Dune Awakening
Gun Parts are incredibly easy to find in Dune Awakening: look for enemies with guns and defeat them. I found large amounts of these all over Vermillius Gap, thanks to the Scavengers and Mercenaries scattered throughout the area. Just look for enemy camps, head to the Ironworks, and Outposts.

If the enemies there have guns, while yes, you have to be careful unless you’re Shielded, defeating them often grant you Gun Parts in Dune Awakening. You can also occasionally pick up guns in these areas, and take them back to your base. Throw them in a Recycler, and you can get some Gun Parts that way too. It's worth noting that not all guns will give Gun Parts. Lower-class guns often give Mechanical Parts. I've found that guns that would require Gun Parts to craft would net them back in return, such as the Standard GRDA 44.
Enemy NPCs tend to have pretty swift respawn times, too, so it’s not going to be too hard for you to find locations to farm. Once you’ve entered East Vermillius Gap, for example, I found three or so enemy camps within a short drive from my base.

Finally, you can also buy Gun Parts outright, if you want. There are NPCs that can sell you Gun Parts, or you can trade with players via the player market, or by trading. Those prices may not be worth it to you though, so consider your need versus how many Solaris you have.
I prefer to farm Gun Parts from enemy NPCs, though. This also allows you to farm other useful resources, like Solaris, and a variety of crafting resources from the various chests in these enemy camps. You might wind up with Salvaged Metal in Scavenger camps, as an example.
Another reason I prefer to farm Gun Parts from enemy drops, is it’s a great way to get Armor Plating, by defeating scavengers with heavy machine-gun weapons. They almost always have Armor Plating, and can drop Gun Parts at the same time in Funcom's latest survival MMO.
