Dune Awakening: How to hide your helmet

Dune Awakening brings many things fans love from the franchise to provide them with an immersive gaming experience. Everything in the title serves a purpose, including the Stillsuits, which help you survive in the desert. However, in the process, the helmet you wear covers up the face you spent so much time perfecting.

Being an MMO title, the game features extensive character customization. The developers were aware of this and added a feature to hide your helmet. This guide takes you through a step-by-step process on how to do so.

In the game, you spend a lot of time in character customization, creating a character you want to play, and immediately putting on a helmet. Fortunately, there’s an easy solution to move past this issue – you won’t even lose the stat bonus your helmet provides.

To hide your helmet, simply toggle the Show Helmet option in the settings tab. Here’s how to do so:

Open Settings and go to the Gameplay tab.
Scroll down to the middle and look for the Show Helmet option.
Select Yes to hide the helmet worn by the character.

The changes take effect immediately and apply to all types of helmets in the game. Now you can continue your journey, flinging your hair throughout Arrakis. Note that this feature does not provide any gameplay advantage.

Why hide the helmet?

As mentioned, the game recreates many things from the franchise very faithfully, including the armor. Unfortunately, most of the helmets don't look as good as the body armor. This was true for the movies, and it applies to the game as well.

Another way to remove your helmet is through the inventory. You may notice two options beside your equipped gear. Press D to bring up a new menu and uncheck the helmet.

You can take the helmet off entirely. However, the desert conditions are harsh, and losing several defensive stats can become problematic. A death within the game can set you back, especially if you have useful items in your inventory.
