Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, Corey LaJoie is the son of Randy LaJoie, a former two-time NASCAR Busch Series champion. Following in his father's footsteps, he has climbed up to the upper echelon of stock car racing: the NASCAR Cup Series.
As of October 2024, Corey competes full-time in the Cup Series driving the No.51 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Rick Ware Racing. He also competes part-time in the NASCAR Truck Series driving the No.7 Chevrolet Silverado for Spire Motorsports. Lajoie has not won a race in the Cup Series as of September 2024. He has 13 top-10s combined in the three series in NASCAR. Lajoie has 11 top-10s in the Cup Series and 2 top-10s in the Xfinity Series. He has finished in the top 10 in the Truck Series only once.
Early career wins
Corey began his racing career in 1996 when he was five years old. In his early racing years, he competed in kart racing events and won 19 races on dirt and asphalt tracks.
In 2003 Corey started competing in the INEX Bandolero series, Where he won 12 races and won the series' Summer Shootout Championship.
Corey's first taste of stock cars came when he started racing Legend cars in 2005 and in 2006 he competed in Aaron's Pro Challenge Series, in which he won 10 of 12 races in that year.
In the period of 2007-2009, Corey competed in the UARA-Stars Late Model Touring Series, where he raced in 17 races and scored one win.
NASCAR Camping World East Series wins
Corey started competing in the NASCAR Camping World East Series in 2009 but struggled for wins and championship contention for a couple of years.
His breakthrough season in the series came in 2012 when he scored his first win at Bowman Gray Stadium. Consequently, he won an additional four races and finished as runner-up in the championship.
He won his last race in the series at 2016 United Site Services 70, Loudon.
ARCA Menards Series wins
Corey competed in the ARCA Menards Series on a limited schedule basis in the second half of 2013. He won the Ansell ActivArmr 150 at Chicagoland in his first start, followed by a second victory at the same track, simultaneously winning on his third start at Pocono Raceway.
Though Corey has his cabinet filled with junior series trophies, he has struggled to win in the top tiers of NASCAR.
