The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is the third tier series in the three NASCAR national series. It is a pro-level series associated with NASCAR's top-stock car racing series. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series comes under the banner of stock car racing and draws many parallels with the top-two series. However, the racers in this series drive modified Trucks instead of sports cars. Since it is a stock car racing series, these trucks are derived from their production counterparts and modified to facilitate racing. The NASCAR Truck Series features the same manufacturers as the top NASCAR series. The series uses the Chevrolet Silverado, Toyota Tundra TRD, and the Ford F-150.
The NASCAR Truck Series has been sponsored by Craftsman since the 2023 season. The Truck Series features a 23-race calendar. During these 23 races, 16 races are slotted into the Regular Season. The championship is similar to the Cup Series but differs in the number of drivers allowed. The Truck Series only allows 10 drivers to participate in the NASCAR Truck Series playoffs. There are seven races in the Playoffs and the last two drivers are eliminated every third race. This way the final race hosts four drivers who contend for the NASCAR Cup Series championship.
Note: The points system and distribution structure are exactly similar to the Cup Series in the Craftsman Truck Series. The drivers who are qualified for Chase have their points reset to 2000 at the beginning of the playoffs. They also earn bonus playoffs points during the Regular Season.
