Richard Petty, also called The King of NASCAR, has been the statistical greatest driver in the history of NASCAR. With 200 race wins and 127 poles, he was part of the inaugural member of the 2010 NASCAR Hall of Famers. Petty comes from a racing family with his father being the first to race in NASCAR. His father, Lee Petty won the first, much coveted, Daytona 500 in 1959. That’s not all, Lee Petty is also a three-time NASCAR Champion making The King a second-generation Championship winner.

Richard Petty has spread his impact far wider than the racing track. He has been thoroughly involved with charitable causes through his foundation, Petty Family Foundation. His philanthropy did not end there as he donated a large area of land to make a summer camp for severely sick children. This project is known as the Victory Junction. Known for his unique look with sunglasses and cowboy hat, Petty’s legacy will stand the test of time and very few will ever even come close to achieving a similar feat.

How many kids does Richard Petty have?
