When it comes to NASCAR, drivers have spent their lives working hard day and night to get to the Cup Series. Standing as the pinnacle of stock car racing, the Cup Series has the most anticipated and iconic races throughout its calendar. All of these races and circuits carry their own history and heritage.

These races are not the same and some are regarded much higher than the rest. One of the biggest milestones and achievements for a driver is winning the Crown Jewels. These are the most important races of the season and are namely, The Daytona 500, Coca-Cola 600, Southern 500, and the Brickyard 400. Even out of these Crown Jewels, one singular race is bigger than the rest and has been a calendar staple since 1959.

The Biggest NASCAR Race

The Daytona 500 has been unanimously regarded as the most prestigious race of the NASCAR Schedule. The race is held at the Daytona International Speedway, located in Florida, USA. The race is scheduled to have a distance of 500 miles with 200 laps in total. The first two stages of the race last 65 laps each with a final stage of 70 laps. This race has been the biggest event in the NASCAR realm since its inaugural event in 1959 where Lee Petty won the first ever Daytona 500.

The race is held in February and is the first race of the NASCAR season. The race has been the most anticipated race on the calendar and has been dubbed the “The Great American Race”. The race winners are given the Harley J. Earl Trophy and the winning car is also displayed in the Daytona 500 Experience for one year. Richard Petty has won the race seven times throughout his career, this is the most wins at the circuit for any driver. The Daytona 500 is also one of the four Crown Jewels of NASCAR.
