Akbar Ali is an Emirati cricket umpire who was born in Delhi, India. Born on 20th March 1973, Ali started his umpiring career in 2017 and was one of the eight umpires who stood in the 2016 ICC World Cricket League Division Four tournament.


Umpiring career


On 16th February 2016, Akbar started his career as an umpire in the 2nd T20 International in the Ireland tour of United Arab Emirates at Abu Dhabi. The match was won by the home side in a close encounter by a margin of 5 runs to level the 2-match series 1-1.


On 22nd January 2017, Akbar stood in his first One Day International match between Scotland and Hong Kong in United Arab Emirates Tri-Nation Series. The match was won by Hong Kong by a convincing 7 wickets margin.


On 23rd January 2018, Ali was officiating the 6th match of the United Arab Emirates Tri-Nation Series between Scotland and the United Arab Emirates in which the home side won the match by four wickets with five balls to spare.
