Mickie James was always a fan of pro-wrestling and attended a professional wrestling school in the Washington, D.C. area at the suggestion of a friend. She made her professional debut on the independent circuit in 1999, as a valet.
Before joining WWE in 2003 as part of the developmental territory OVW, she even had a brief stint with Impact Wrestling, then known as TNA.
Mickie James made her debut on the main roster in 2005 when she was involved in a lengthy program with Trish Stratus. Mickie James won her first Women's Championship at Wrestlemania 22 by defeating Trish Stratus at the grand stage.
Mickie James stayed with WWE till 2010 where she captured the Divas/Women's Championship six times.
James went back to Impact Wrestling in 2010 and was able to capture the Knockout's Championship in 2011. Mickie James became the first woman in history to have held the WWE Women's Championship, the WWE Divas Championship, and the TNA Knockouts Championship.
Mickie James returned to WWE when On the October 26 episode of NXT, James cut a promo where she formally reintroduced herself and challenged Asuka for the championship. At the event, James was defeated and after the match, Asuka refused to shake her hand as a sign of disrespect.
Mickie James made the switch to the main roster in December aligning herself with Alexa Bliss.
