Alvin Antonio Burke Jr. is an American professional wrestler signed with WWE. He is best known for his work with WWE, TNA, and NJPW. He is a former WWE United States Champion and IWGP Intercontinental Champion.

Professional Wrestling Career

Early Years (2002-2005)

After being released from prison, Burke began wrestling on the independent circuit. He wrestled for several promotions, such as FIP, FOW, TNA, and CCW, before signing with WWE.

WWE (2005-2010)

Early Years and SmackDown (2005-2007)

In 2005, he signed with WWE and began working for DSW. They later renamed him MVP. In 2006, he made his main roster debut on SmackDown. His first notable rivalry was against Kane. During his feud with Kane, he began teaming up with Mr. Kennedy. At Armageddon, he lost to Kane in an Inferno match and took some time off due to injuries.

After his return, he began feuding with Chris Benoit. At WrestleMania XXIII, he lost to Chris Benoit. After two unsuccessful attempts, he defeated Chris Benoit at Judgement Day to win his first WWE United States Championship. He won the WWE Tag Team Championship with Matt Hardy. He feuded for Hardy for a year before losing the title to Hardy.


Final Years (2008-2010)

In August, he defeated Jeff Hardy at SummerSlam. At Unforgiven, he took part in the WWE Championship scramble but lost. He won his second United States Championship after defeating Shelton Benjamin. At WrestleMania 25, he entered the Money in the Bank ladder match and lost.

In 2009, they drafted him to RAW. He spent the year chasing the United States Championship and teaming up with Mark Henry. In 2010, they drafted him to SmackDown but failed to win the Intercontinental Championship on several occasions. In December, they released him from the company.


Independent Circuit (2011-2019)

After being released, MVP spent his time on the independent circuit. He won the inaugural IWGP Intercontinental Champion. In 2014, he was signed with TNA where he formed the Beat Down Clan. He managed and teamed up with Bobby Lashley and Kenny King. He also played the role of an on-screen personality before forming his stable. MVP worked with TNA for over a year and was involved in various matches and segments. MVP worked for several promotions, such as HOH, TNA, APW, PCW, ROH, ROW, WCR, and MLW, before resigning with WWE.


Return to WWE (2020-Present)

In January, he made a return to RAW. At Royal Rumble, he made a surprise return. After the rumble, he made several VIP lounge segments before wrestling. After WrestleMania, he reunited with Bobby Lashley. MVP began feuding with Apollo Crews for the United States Championship and unveiled a new title.

After losing to Apollo Crews, MVP formed The Hurt Business featuring Bobby Lashley, Cedric Alexander, and Shelton Benjamin. The stable was dripped in gold as they won the RAW Tag Team Championship and the United States Championship by the end of the year. MVP became a full-time manager for the group and Bobby Lashley after the group parted ways. He was last seen on RAW with Bobby Lashley.
