Nick Castellanos is a right fielder and third baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies in Major League Baseball. He is an experienced player and has played for many other teams like the Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs, and Cincinnati Reds. When Castellanos was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 2010 Major League Baseball draft, he shot to the top of the baseball prospect rankings. The Detroit Tigers selected Castellanos with the 44th overall choice in the second round of the drafts.


Baseball America regarded him as the third-best prospect for power hitting and the 14th-best overall prospect before the draft. The Tigers offered him a $3.45 million signing bonus, the largest ever for a player selected after the first round. Despite Castellanos's high school shortstop position, the Tigers moved him to third base during his professional career. That season, Castellanos made seven appearances for the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League's Gulf Coast Tigers. Later, Baseball America ranked Castellanos as the 65th most excellent prospect in baseball before the 2011 campaign. He was a player with the Midwest League's Class-A West Michigan Whitecaps. Castellanos led the Midwest League with 158 hits while with the Whitecaps, batting .312 with seven home runs and 76 RBIs. He was also voted the Tigers' minor league position player of the year. He finally made his MLB Debut in 2019 with the Tigers.

Castellanos was a baseball player for the American Heritage School's team in Plantation, Florida. In his sophomore year, American Heritage took home the Florida state championship. Before entering his junior year, Castellanos moved to Archbishop McCarthy High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After concluding his senior season with a .542 batting average, 34 runs scored, 41 runs batted in (RBIs), and 22 stolen bases while leading his team to the Class 4A state championship.
