Randy Arozarena was born on February 28, 1995, in Mantua, Cuba. He is a Mexican professional baseball outfielder for the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball (MLB).


Arozarena was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals and promoted to the major leagues on August 12, 2019. He made his major league debut against the Kansas City Royals on August 14, 2019. Arozarena was selected as an American League starting outfielder for the 2023 MLB All-Star Game, the first selection in his career. He also accepted an invitation to compete in the 2023 Major League Baseball Home Run Derby. Arozarena stole third base against the Miami Marlins on August 31, 2023, becoming the first MLB player to have three consecutive 20-20 seasons to begin his career. Arozarena was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays on January 9, 2020. In the 2020 American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros, he earned the MVP honors. Added to that he has also earned ALCS MVP and Babe Ruth Award in 2020. Internationally, he represented the Mexican National Team in the 2023 World Baseball Classic tournament. The team finished third in the tournament. For his performances, he was named to the All-Classic Baseball team.

Randy Arozarena’s Early Life

Arozarena played with Vegueros de Pinar del Río of the Cuban National Series in the 2013–14 and 2014–15 seasons. He hit 291/ 412/ 419 across 74 games in his final season, adding three home runs, 24 RBIs, and 15 stolen bases.


After travelling to Mexico in 2016, Arozarena played briefly for the Toros de Tijuana of the Mexican League, the Norte de México League, and the Mérida Winter League before spending the winter as a member of the Mexican Pacific League's Mayos de Navojoa.


Arozarena signed with the Cardinals as an international free agent in July 2016. He spent the next few years with the minor league teams. He was promoted to the Major Leagues on August 12, 2019, and made his debut two days later.
