ABOUT

Subhasish Roy Chowdhury is an Indian professional footballer who was born on September 27, 1986 in Calcutta, West Bengal.

Subhasish plays as a goalkeeper for his team but on some occasions, he has been substituted as a defender as well.

He has represented clubs like Mahindra United, East Bengal Football Club, Kerala Blasters Football Club, ATK, etc.

Background

Subhasish was born and brought up in a state which has been the epitome of football in India. He started his career in his teenage years by joining the Tata Football Academy.

He brushed up his skills at the game and started his Senior Career with East Bengal Football Club in the 2004-05 season of the National Football League.

Subhasish had a fair season overall but his team lost the title and finished third in the league. Thus, he joined the Mahindra United Football Club.

The Mahindra United Football Club gave him a great name in the Indian Football World.

By his performance between the poles, he helped the MU to win the 2005 Federation Cup, 2006 National Football League and the 2008 Durand Cup.

Debut

Subhasish Roy got a chance to play for the national team in the 2008 AFC Challenge Cup held in India.

He played his first match against Turkmenistan and India won that match by a score of 1-0.

After the match, he wasn't given a chance to play in the upcoming matches.

After the AFC Challenge Cup, Subhasish had a tough time. His place in the national team was dropped and the I-League Club Mahindra United couldn't win a tournament in that season.

Moreover, in 2010 the club was dissolved and he had to look out for a new team. But all that made him rather well known, since he is now the only player to have played for four different clubs in the Indian Super League.

Rise to Glory

Subhasish Chowdhury joined the Dempo Club of the I-League in the 2010-11 season.

He gave an impressive performance in the league and that led to the club winning the tournament that season.

He even got a chance to play for India again an year later, but couldn't make an impression there. Thus, he returned back to Club Football.

Club Career

Post 2012, he joined Atletico de Kolkata in the 2014 ISL Season. He made an impression in that season and grabbed the ISL Emerging Player Award for the season.

He also helped ATK win the inaugural ISL.

He played the next season for Delhi Dynamos but featured only in one match. After the season ended, he joined hands with FC Goa for the third ISL season, but four matches in the entire league weren't enough for him to showcase his skills.

He started his fourth season of ISL from the Kerala Blasters and has performed brilliantly until now. He has saved 29 goals in 7 appearances until now including a clean sheet.

His club career might reach newer heights by the end of this league.
