The Gujarat Fortune Giants is an Indian professional Kabaddi team which participates in the Pro Kabaddi League. The franchise is based in the city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The Future Giants plays their home matches in the stadium known as “The Arena by TransStadia”, or simply “The Arena”. The stadium has a total capacity of accommodating around 4000 spectators. It is also the home ground to the Gujarat State Football Association and the Gujarat State Table Tennis Association.
Gujarat Fortune Giants was founded in the 2017 Pro Kabaddi League when a total of four teams were added to the existing eight. The team’s coach is Manpreet Singh. Singh has earlier been a player himself leading Patna Pirates to their first Pro Kabaddi title in the third season as a captain.
Gujarat Fortune Giants is owned by the very famous Adani Wilmar Ltd. The company has an average turnover of more than $11 billion. It spreads across to more than 50 countries. And this is their first investment in Kabaddi. Their tagline is “Garjega Gujarat" which literally means “Gujarat will roar”.
The owners are working on the grass root level to improve the quality of Kabaddi that is played throughout the city of Ahmedabad. Since the team's introduction into the league in the year 2017, they have launched a number of programs to draw more attention of people towards this game.
Having played just one season prior, there is not much of the trajectory that can be shown. The Fortune Giants started their campaign on a very high note and very dominant throughout the 2017 PKL. A lot can be depicted from the result when they bossed the zonal table.
During the knockout phases too, they looked strong before going down to the Patna Pirates in the final. Having studied a lot on their low points in the last season, now the team has a great sense of optimism because of them possessing an even better squad than before.
Looked shaky on several occasions while at some point in the game, they looked less creative to say the least. With a young squad like theirs, this shouldn't come as surprise to anyone.
